Tournament Starts Today

I can't cheer for him.  Don't know what he's done to deserve playing with Crosby.

I don't think it's a case of deserving anything, I just think it's a smart move by Babcock to go with established chemistry. Bergeron and Marchand play together for Boston and Bergeron and Crosby have played together for Canada since the '05 juniors.

I know it probably belongs somewhere else, but can I just say, the commercial that just ran for "Hockey Night in Canada" (returning Oct 15) just brought a tear to my eye........ and best of all, Ron Maclean is back as host!
*happy happy face*

It's always fun when Canada establishes a clear 4th line. Right now it looks like Duchene-Thornton-O'Reilly.

That would maybe be the 3rd or 4th best line among the other 7 teams.

Does anybody really care?  Besides seeing Matthews and Rielly on the young guns team, is there anything that gets you motivated to watch this?

I feel there's been minimal hype around the city and it just seems so forced.

I'll try to check a game or two, but I have little to no emotional investment in this tournament. I find the team north america interesting because of all the young talent, but doesn't it further eliminate national pride in these games when you have Canadians on two different teams? Because of that, I can't see this as anything more than a simple exhibition tournament: entertaining, but otherwise meaningless.

Team Canada drubs Team Czech Republic 6-0, as Crosby and Marchand combine for six points on the night.  The Canadians exhibited the poise, experience and consistency once again a formidable opponent for anyone to tackle.  Goaltender Carey Price was his invincible self in net.

Canada plays Team USA Tuesday.

Team Europe, along with netminder Jaroslav Halak's 35 saves, shut out Team USA 3-0.  Call the Americans "stunned", call them what you will, but the fact remains that Team USA seemed ill-prepared for the opposition.  Combine that with some poor decision-making on the part of coach Tortorella for his choice of lineup, and what looked to many as though the Americans didn't take Team Europe seriously enough, it all added up into a losing situation for them.

Team USA plays Team Canada Tuesday, in a must-win game for the Americans, if they are to keep their hopes alive in the Group A standings.

I've watched every Team Canada and Team North America game so far. It's been enjoyable as well as better than anything else on TV.

You must not be watching the new season of You're the
Worst.

Pretty exciting finish to the SWE-RUS game. Russia down 2-0 and Ovi scores with about 30 seconds left to bring them within 1. Then he thinks he scores again with about 7 seconds left to tie it but the goal is waved off. He batted a puck into the net mid-air with his glove, but felt that he got a piece of his with his stick before it went into the net. Tried to sell it real hard but video replay didn't show it.
