In my truly fantasy world the Leafs sign Gordon, Horton and Scuderi/Ference.

Lupul-Kadri-Kessel
JVR-Grabovski-Horton
Bolland-McClement-Kulemin
McLaren-Gordon-Colborne
Orr

Phaneuf-Gunnarsson
Gardiner-Scuderi/Ference
Franson-Liles
Fraser

I like that a lot

Without checking, you might have to shave Liles there for the cap but yeah, I like it too.

Just out of curiosity - what is Fraser McLaren's status?  NHLnumbers says he's a UFA IV, but Capgeek says he's an RFA.

He would have been an UFA had he not hit a certain GP criteria this season, but he did so he's a RFA. NHLnumbers must have just not updated their information. It's usually best just to go with Capgeek's information.

I like it too but I would lose McLaren and put a Marlie up, maybe D'Amigo or Ashton.

If Bozak goes elsewhere... if LeCavalier signs with Toronto... does it make sense to buy out Grabovski ? Centers would be Vinny, Kadri, Bolland and McClement with Colbourne as insurance.

Amnesty, yes.  I wouldn't want to use a normal buyout on him.  However, amnesty buyouts for the year end July 5th, I think.

Also, that assumes there's no trade market for him - trade is best option, maybe with a little salary retention.

Yeah, the compliance buyout period ends before free agency begins, so, unless the Leafs are 100% certain that Lecavalier or Weiss or whoever is going to sign with them from their discussions during the new interview period, they won't be using a compliance buyout on Grabovski.

Also, they are still pursuing Bozak. What if they sign Bozak on the Leafs terms? Do you still buy Grabbo out? or does McClement play the wing instead?

I really hope that's just talk. Bozak no longer has a place on this team IMO.

The only decision should be Grabbo or someone better like Lecavalier.

Is McClement not the best faceoff guy they have?

He and Grabovski are neck-and-neck. They're both typically a shade over 50%. Although even without another centre being brought in I wouldn't be surprised if McClement shifts to the wing. He's behind Kadri, Grabovski, and Bolland right now. So he either centres the 4th line like he did for much of last season or plays on the wing with Bolland on a checking line.

I think if they resign Bozak on their terms then Grabovski needs to leave.

That's where I'm at also. If Nonis goes that route, I think he want Bozak on that top line with Kessel, otherwise, he's trying to find something way better than both Grabbo and Bozak.

I also agree with CTB, that McClement may end up playing the wing with Bolland anyway.  Boyd Gordon would be as good as any available player for the 4th line, however I really think Nonis and Co. want somebody in the system to earn that spot over a UFA.

I thought Clitsome would have been a decent depth guy for us, however....

@SCGscott 10h

Grant Clitsome (@GClitsome) has opted to avoid UFA and return to @NHLJets agreeing to a 3 yr. deal worth $6.2m at an AAV of $2.066m #Jets

I have thoughts of Derek Roy or Stephen Weiss coming here. And I get real nervous.

That said... both are better hockey players than Bozak.

And Gordon to replace Komarov and/or centre the 4th with McClement moving up to 3rd line wing gets my vote.

I don't see Derek Roy in a Leafs uni at all, but I think Weiss has a good chance, depending on how today goes with what Nonis really wants to do.

Bozak has been the best of all of them though. Not by a wide margin but he has the best numbers overall over the past 3 years.

Roy would be the higher risk higher reward choice. His playmaking ability could mesh incredibly well with Kessel, but Weiss would be the lower risk, safer choice who probably won't reach lofty point totals but likely plays a more consistent game and less of a health risk.

I'm really hoping for a Stastny trade today to the Leafs. I think today would be the day to do it, you know, like this morning before noon...
I'd be most happy with that option on the top line.
