Unofficial 2013-2014 Armchair GM Thread

which again proves that Randy is an idiot on how to use existing talent and his insistance on keeping the McClarens and Orrs way over their best before dates. Its dinosaur hockey that Randy was employing, plain and simple. The new NHL is built on speed and skill and if you can't skate you better know your angles. Hope the new coach and Shanahan have this in their mindset.

just watching some of the Boston series and really looking at Brad Marchant. Man is he a pest, reminds me of Komrade Komorav.
Marchant=Komorav?. boy do we need our Komrade back.

Highlander, WAY off base with this one:

The overrating of Komarov is in full swing.

He is not overrated he is a hitting machine, and he can play a good game of hockey. I'll take him on my third or fourth line any day. This is the kind of players we need to fill out the bottom lines.

Marchand is a 3-time 20 goal scorer, a 2-time 25 goal scorer and was on pace for over 30 last season.

Not a fair comparison.  Maybe, MAYBE, if you were only comparing one aspect of Marchand's game to Komarov's entire game.

A good 4th liner is a very fair description of him.

Oh by no means am I comparing them, I am just agreeing that we need Komorov back with us. I would not even think twice about bringing him in for 3-4 yrs. We could use more like him and Kulemin.

Isn't that a gm issue?

Ok, let trade for Marchand and bring in Komorav and put them on the same line and make us all happy. That man looks like the Rat he is.

Not to worry. PDO tells us he'll make quite a few of his next ones.

I'd go as far to say that he's a fantastic 4th liner.  Which is to say that he should never really be playing more than 10-12 minutes a night unless he's having one of those games where he scores multiple goals and every single thing he does is working.

I think some people have a slightly inflated notion of his play because he really didn't spend much time at all on an actual 4th line last year(his most frequent linemates were Mac and Kadri). To really go all-in on him I think I'd need to see him have more moments where he's not just hitting someone while the other guys are winning the puck and shooting it in.

Sharks playing Pavelski on their 3rd line... Komarov on ours.  OK, I'm pushing it a bit, but I'm tired of settling on lesser lights and pumping them up like they're great players.  I would like to have Komarov back as well, but for decent $$ and term, and him slotting into the 4th line. If he's a 3rd line player on our team than we continue to have bigger problems.

Advance stats people say that shooting percentage is a myth.  There aren't some players with better shots then others.
