Canada's next game is Tuesday against Belarus.

Speaking of Belarus here is a good read of Grabbo playing for Belarus

You say:
  Most goals for:          30  Canada
- Least goals against:  16  Canada
=======================
and those two numbers = +14

But you have :
Goal differential:      +17  Canada

Meanwhile, the standings say
http://tsn.ca/mens_world/standings/
Canada has given up 14 goals - not 16 and therefore, Canada is +16 unless I'm looking at wrong numbers

You state:
"Least goals against:  16  Canada"
but Russia with 8, Sweden with 8, Finland with 8, Slovakia with 9 - a total of 7 teams have given up fewer goals against than Canada though they all have a game in hand. Most won't allow six goals in their next game for Canada to statistically catch them.

You are correct, cw.  :)  My fault for posting the wrong stats.

Canada does not sport the least goals against.  Canada has 14 GA, for a differential of +16.

And, yes, Russia, Sweden, Finland, and Slovakia all have lower GA of 9.

I hope that the finn will get a longer suspension for what he did to Goligoski. I think that Team USA could go far in this tournament.

Semin and Ovechkin coming over for Russia and Backstrom will be joining Sweden. That definitely changes the landscape a little.

So Norway scored 12 goals on Germany...ehm okay? ???

To be honest, this Norway team plays very decent game. Swedes and Russians beat them, but in both cases it was not convincing victory at all. Actually, against Russia the refs disallowed a clear goal which would have tied the game. Against Czechs, they managed to go into a shoot-out and the rest in their group they defeated quite clearly. I mean if they had been more lucky in that shootout against Czechs and were not robbed by the refrees against Russia, they may have been the real surprise of this tournament. I guess, they are anyway, but if the development program continues, Norway could become a solid hockey country. Speaking of which, it is somewhat surprising they are not already given their viking nature, climate, long winters and general excellence in all other winter sports.

Anssi Salmela got suspended for 3 games after the dirty hit on Alex....serves him right, that was really dirty..

I'm a bit surprised about the 12 goals, but not surprised that they're doing well in general. They do have some decent players in KHL, and some players in SEL who have pretty important roles. And if they get it together, and one of the bigger teams aint doing their jobs, they could definately surprise.

I never realized there would be a math quiz.  :-\

Ok, that was weird, If I'm gonna put the blame on anyone it will definately be Getzlaf, on a side note, crap, I lost my money. Getzlaf was also the one who screwed up on the 3-3 goal. Maybe he is something for the leafs afterall :)

???

Evander Kane made the unlucky pass that the Slovaks tied the game with. The Getzlaf hit was debatable if it was a knee or if the Slovak player tried to avoid Getzlaf. Just tough luck for the guy. I think where Canada went wrong was not putting the pedal to the medal. Step on the jugular as it were. Full credit to Slovakia for a top notch third period. They earned it.

Yeah, Kane was kind of unlucky. It was a smart pass, it just ended up with a bad result. But it seemed as if after that goal Canada played like they were losing, although it was a tie. But Slovakia is a good team, so they can surprise anyone. Now I'm hoping that Sweden or Team USA will win it all. And if none of those two win it all then I'd just be happy if none of Finland or Russia did :D
