2024-25 General Trades and Signings

Chicago only getting a 3rd round pick to retain half of Rantanen and trade Hall. What the hell are they doing...and do they have another Jake McCabe
 
Necas and Kotka are 2nd and 3rd in 5v5 pts/60....not too shabby. I like Necas, he just turned 26 and is signed for 1 more year at 6.5M.

Kotka not part of the deal, assuming this is accurate. Chicago just giving away Hall and cap space.

It’s this year’s pick. There’s no currently unsigned RFAs worth anything - and they wouldn’t be able to play this season.
 
I suspect there will be more pieces involved at the end of the day - though, likely smaller pieces. Next few weeks could get very interesting, though.
 
Again, WTF is Chicago doing. Carolina come out as big winners in this specific trade. What Colorado follows this up with defines their season

Carolina wins in the short term, for sure, but if Rantanen doesn’t sign an extension, that’s one helluva expensive rental.

And, yeah, if that really is the meat of the deal, why did Chicago get involved?
 

Colorado makes out really well for a pending UFA they obviously weren’t likely to retain.

That's a great deal for a pending UFA. People are sleeping on Necas who is only 9pts behind Rant, is signed for 1 more year and will be cheaper. If Marner wasn't going to sign here, I wouldn't have an issue with that return.
 
Chicago did a stupid

Maybe there’s a follow up trade that looks lopsided later, but right now, I think their trade software is more bugged than before.
