Imagine if LA could score?

Quick: 32-19-11, 1.96 GAA, .930 SV%, 8 shutouts

Has Quick become the Vezina favourite? He is carrying the Kings to the playoffs. He and Miller have been absolute workhorses lately.

Fun fact -- Reimer has the same cap hit as Quick.  :o

I'd say it's down to him and Lundqvist - their stats are awfully similar, but, my guess is the "East coast bias" and reputation get Lundqvist his first trophy.

Even though these trophies are all "for the current year", I don't think it is unreasonable to look at a guy who has been near the top of the league for years and decide it is his turn now.  If Quick keeps it up, he'll get his a little later.

Just in case your opinion of Charles Wang can't get lower (and let's throw Mike Milbury in too for his wonderful comment): http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304023504577319912036433148.html

Millbury's having a good week for the stupid.  He was calling out Crosby and saying people should have open season on him.  It's really amazing how a guy who was disastrously incompetent at his job has a job criticizing people who have character.

Yeah well, not to ever, ever agree with Milbury, but Crosby definitely IS a bit of a punk sometimes...

Not that I'd ever advocate for the CBC to lose HNIC but if they're going to continue to give a voice to dopes like Milbury and Cherry I honestly wouldn't care if someone else snatched those rights.

They should pull the mike away from Mike Milbury today.
At least Mcguire is a homer for whatever team he happens to think is the flavor of the day, but Milbury has zero class or integrity. Some announcers have a certain amount of credit and integrity, but that cross check from behind has no business in the game of hockey.
The play was over. Classless just like the Flyers to pull cheap stunts like that.
Bunch of thugs, and that's their style of classless hockey i guess Milbury subscribes to cheap hits.

I'm getting tired of this guy. He is my #1 reason for not watching hotstove on HNIC any more.

I still watch it but I agree he makes it difficult to do so. I'd really like to have a word with the producer who thought that would be a good idea.

"So here's the idea, we round up some of the most respected hockey writers in the business, ask them to speak about the most important issues facing the game today...and also let's see if they can shout over Mike Milbury"

;D

I laughed out loud at this and was reminded of Hockey Central at noon with Kypreos and MacLean. But that is another story for another thread.

The Panthers did what they had to do to get to where they are. Personally I find the flop season the Caps had a bigger story. Beware of Russians

I've never seen this before but why does Chara's cap hit change in 2017-18?

http://www.capgeek.com/players/display.php?id=216

His cap hit is $6,916,667 until then, but for whatever reason it changes to $4M the last season?

Any ideas how or why that's allowed?

Found this:

"Under the league's new "Kovalchuk" rule, Chara's new contract will be cut off (for the purposes of salary-cap calculation) in the year of the contract in which he turns 41. That means Chara, who will turn 41 on Mar. 18, 2018, will have an annual salary cap hit of $6.9 million for the first six years of the deal -- $400,000 more than what would be if it were calculated over the seven years of the contract. The cap hit then drops to his actual salary ($4 million) in the final year."
