They have scored 9 more goals than the next highest scoring team. Averaging over 5 goals a game.

cw said:Flyers are off to a NHL low .250 points win% start after 8 games. Around bottom 5 in PP, PK and goals scored. They've also suffered the worst drop off over last season's win% in the league. They've had some injuries (ie Hartnell & Meszaros & Briere who is back) but that doesn't explain everything. Bryzgalov's .918 save%, 2.31 GAA is respectable so that's not the big problem. They're having trouble scoring - I guess beginning with Giroux with only 4pts in 8 games.
If they go pointless in their next two games, they'll need to play roughly .711 hockey the rest of the way to make the playoffs. Once a team requires over .700, they're in very slim territory with so many games to go. It's happened but not very often - particularly when a team is playing so badly.
It does open up a playoff berth for our Leafs if it continues as the Flyers were expected by most to make the playoffs. Playoff teams Florida, NY Rangers & Washington are also struggling. While non-playoff clubs, Tampa Bay & Montreal are in good position to snatch a spot.
I suspect those making predictions this year are probably going to have more trouble that usual with their accuracy.

It's going to be a wacky season.

Absolutely. I can't remember a season where there were 30 + players @ a PPG pace after 8 games. I guess team defence (or lack there of) and conditioning are the biggest determining factors so far.
Gallagher, Galchenyuk, Tarasenko, Frattin to name just a few young guys @ near/at/above a PPG (there are probably other examples).
On the flip side, H. Sedin, Kessel, Iginla, Richards, Cammalleri, Morrow, RNH and J. Staal among the big names that have yet to get a G.

If your client wasn't playing like $hit it would be a non-issue right now! :

Given how incredibly professionally Luongo has handled the situation, this doesn't look good on Schneider (or his agent).
