Crazy 1st period in Edmonton. Colorado goes up 3-0 after scoring 2 goals in 24 seconds but then Edmonton gets back in it scoring a goal with 3 seconds left.

Edmonton comes back from the 3-0 deficit in the 1st period to win 6-4.  A bit more entertaining that the Leafs game...

Hemsky with two pretty goals. Eberle also with two and Nugent-Hopkins gets his 1st of the season (no longer on the list of players with less goals than Colton Orr lol).

I think the Buffalo-Pittsburgh game right now is a great example of what makes for an entertaining hockey game. Boatloads of offensive talent, lousy defenses and decent goaltending.

Over the last three seasons, Sid Crosby has played in 79 regular season games. In those games he's got 47 goals, 80 assists and is a +46 while winning around 54% of his face-offs.

I think that if he'd been healthy over that span we'd be talking about him in the same way basketball fans talk about Lebron James and wondering if voter fatigue is the only reason he wouldn't be winning a 4th straight Hart.

It's too bad that he was somewhat injury prone in some of his better years.  633 points in 450 games overall.  He wouldn't have touched Gretzky's inflated era numbers but if you adjusted for scoring it would have at least been an interesting discussion.

By the way, does the ACC still have Burkie's Dog House... or did that get fired, too?

It's still there, only now the Dogs don't tell you how good they're going to be.

The Islanders' grey, orange, blue and black uniforms might be the ugliest in all of sports.

Philly seemed to agree.  They made New York run and hide today.

If you're a fan of officiating incompetence I'd recommend getting to see Matt Duchene's goal from the Avs game today against the Predators. He was about ten feet offside, so much so that it almost looked like the defenders gave up on the play because they thought they'd hear the whistle.

It strikes me as bizarre that the league thinks it's ok to review the precise placement of a stick or a skate to see if a goal counts but not on a blatant, ridiculous miscall like that.

The Islanders have a tradition of having the ugliest uniforms in the league. I for one and glad they are carrying that tradition on.

I'm sure the refs have a union, and I'm sure the league is afraid of it.

Wow! What a brutal job by the linesman. How does that count? Did none of the 4 officials on the ice see the play was offside?

Wow that's the worst call I've ever seen.

The guy is right there how does he not see that?  It's not like the puck was moving quickly either.

I didn't watch that game, but that is really brutal. If a guy can't make that call within 15 feet of him, he has no business being an NHL official. Wow!
