Kings extend Dustin Brown. 8 years/47 million for an AAV of 5.875 million. Brown, for those of you scoring at home, has hit 60+ points the grand total of once in his career.

He's hit 50 every season since 07/08, a mark that Clarkson has never hit. His PPG is .605 and Clarksons is .399

I'm not sure if comparing him to Clarkson is what you were doing here, but for 625k more, I think Brown is the better value. 50% greater production and similar play styles for 10% more money.

Was Brown a UFA though?

If Brown got 625k more, we should be happy with Clarkson at 625k less.

Brown's last contract was at a HUGE discount so I think that may have been a factor in him getting such a large sum this time around.

Duchene deal is 5 years, $30 million. #TSN #NHL

Pretty solid deal for the Avs.

"Metropolitan" Division. ROFL

I also find it funny that the only teams in the Atlantic Division that are really on the Atlantic are Boston and Florida - and, I suppose, a case can be made for Tampa, though, they're really on the Gulf. The rest are a fair distance from the ocean, and further than the majority of the teams in the Metropolitan division.

So, the top three in each division make the playoffs and then the next two highest seeded in each conference round things out.

Honestly, A, B, C, and D would have been a better thought out choices.

Edit: Edited for grammar.

Pacific and Central are fine. The Metropolitan division should be the Atlantic and the new Atlantic should be the Northeast. The names may not fit all the teams in each division, but they're better fits than those they went with.

"Northeast" doesn't really work anymore, to be honest, but there is no good choice for a division that was arranged to prop up hockey in a state which should never have had pro teams anyway.  But yes, "Metro" should be "Atlantic."  How Bettmanically stupid.

I would of just went back to the Patrick, Adams, etc;

The Metropolitan division sounds like something you'd find in Arena Football.

I liked the suggestion of "Flortheast".

It's not a perfect fit, but, really, none of the division names are really perfect fits.
