Regardless of whether his reaction was justified (and I believe it was), or intent to strike the umpire (which i dont believe there was) the helmet made contact with the umpire and that simply is not allowed under any circumstance. I believe he'll get anywhere between 5 and 10 games.
That said, I hope MLB SERIOUSLY considers discipline against the umpire. Mistakes i can accept, but it hurts the integrity of MLB and every official to directly affect the flow of a game out of spite. To me, this is a pretty clear cut case of an umpire doing just that.

From what I've read, there have been 3 umpires suspended since 2003.
1 was suspended for baiting a reaction out of Milton Bradley, he was suspended for the remainder of the season and playoffs.
The other 2 were for verbal abuse of MLB officials, one was a threat and one was an anti Semitic slur, they both got 10 day suspensions.

Considering his ball to strike ratio, I'm not sure I'd call them strong innings, but, they were certainly effective.

I honestly wonder if he is actually hitting the plate any more than he did last year. The big improvement for me is that the pitches that he misses with are much closer to the plate and he's actually pretty hard to hit when he doesn't leave a pitch down the middle of the plate.

About time. Lind has been awful while Gomes has put up some very nice numbers in AAA.

Has he? To be honest, I just glanced at his AAA stats without any kind of context. And, for the record, I wasn't advocating Snider be recalled over anyone, or vice versa. I was just saying.bustaheims said:#1PilarFan said:So has Snider...
Snider's actually really struggled since coming back from a recent injury.
