The botched routine double play likely costs the game. ugh

Is a 3rd to 1st considered a routine double play?  It seems like it's more difficult than a 6-4-3 DP.

It is when you're a less than casual fan, don't appreciate the difficulty of that plan and are regurgitating the things the Cleveland commentators are saying.

And the Jays go quickly and quietly in the bottom of the 11th and are now 0-2 on the season. Disappointing start.

What separates a routine double play from a difficult one isn't so much a matter of which infielder starts the play so much as it is a variety of factors that can effect any double play. How hard the ball is hit, how far the fielder has to range to play it, the speed of the runner on first, the speed of the hitter. It's not a question of a 6-4-3 or a 4-6-3 being more routine but rather there are routine versions of each play. In this case, yes, this was what should have been a routine 5-4-3.

Works for me, I was genuinely unsure.
