I think I have already made it abundantly known that I am a big fan of Marner.  The only real caveat I think is that he not a Center and he another smaller high skilled player.  Not tiny in a way that would prevent him from being an awesome top 6 player but Kadri, Kessel, Nylander, Marner I think leaves the Leafs in a bit of a bind size-wise.  If the Leafs are drafting top 4 I wonder if drafting Strome might be more appropriate.  Personally I think Marner will be the better pro but Strome isn't giving up much and you are getting a
A nice big potential #1 Center.

What sold me on Strome is that when McDavid was away from Erie, while his points per game understandably went down, they were still very very good for his age.

I'm hoping for McDavid....but with that being an outside shot, I think Strome would be great if they can get him.  I am leery of Crouse.

Ottawa, New Jersey, and Philly all picking up 2 points. Carolina and Columbus lost though. Still not bad.

On Tuesday I am looking for NJ to beat Ott in OT, CLB lose to Ari in OT and Car to beat Ana.    Oh...and Nash is going to beat Tor in regulation as well.

Is that too much to ask?

I don't think we'll finish there but 5th looks like an attainable goal.

Definitely. We're actually in 5th right now. The two teams "ahead" of us have games-in-hand.

What does 'Left' indicate?  I noticed it goes down by 2 for each game played.

Opponent points + Leafs points remaining.  Just a way to keep track of when Buffalo officially clinches finishing below the Leafs.  A combination of 46 more points gained by the Leafs or lost by Buffalo and they clinch being worse than us.

And yeah, we are technically in a tie for 5th with NJ and Columbus right now.  All three teams are on pace for 77 points.  It's the same reason that even though Carolina and Arizona are only 8 points back of the Leafs that they probably are too far away to catch.  They are on a 67 point pace.  It's going to be tough for the Leafs to continue to lose at a pace sufficient for them to catch up.

Arizona has no goaltending and Carolina is just a bad roster top-to-bottom.

It's kind of amazing that the 16th place team (14th in the list) has a shot at the #1 overall pick.

Imagine if the LA Kings went from winning the Cup one year to winning the lottery and drafting McDavid the next.

If the Leafs draft first, do they take Hanifin or Strome?  Or do they trade down?
Take Strome. Any chance at getting a potential number 1 centre, they have to jump on it.

Sorry, I meant third.

As much as I'd love to get a centre like Strome, Hanifin is the BPA at the 3-spot. Hanifin-Rielly would be fun to watch for the next decade.

But because of the lottery and where the Leafs are I think it's probably more likely we draft 1st than 3rd.

Yeah. 3rd overall is likely out of reach. I can't see both Arizona and Carolina passing the Leafs. One of the two, maybe, but not both.

I suppose.  A person can dream though.

Just to add to things.  3-point games are huge, and most importantly, those games matter for teams that are racing the Leafs to the bottom.
