So what does this say about McPhee that he gave somebody he's calling not good enough to be a NHLer a 2-year, $9mil contract?

Forsberg for Erat

Jagr scored his first goal of the year last night.  4 points in 7 games for the Flames now so he still has something in the tank.

The Kings had front row seats to Thor: Ragnarok last night when the Tampa Bay Lightning rolled into the Staples Center on the back half of a back-to-back and proceeded to blitz them for 4 goals in 2:02 before the first period was even over.

Namestnikov - Stamkos - Kucherov = fire emojis all over the place

They're almost a quarter of the way through the season and this is what they're on pace for:

Stamkos - 38 goals, 106 assists, 144 points

Kucherov - 77 goals, 62 assists, 139 points

Crazy, maybe we have begun a new era of high scoring no touch hockey? Or maybe the amount of power plays will reduce and the scoring will slow? Or somewhere in between, scoring up but not the current scoring paced slowed.

The Wild's Daniel Winnik (former Maple Leaf) gives his impression of the game and how it has changed:

It's a great sign for a team to have its coach and GM on the same page.

Guess who Mike Sullivan has effusive praise for the hard work and talent of?
?He's scoring a lot of goals for us,? Sullivan said. ?He's getting inside the dots. He's doing a lot of things that we asked him to do coming out of training camp. He's working extremely hard on a daily basis. From that regard, he's setting an example for our team. I give [this guy] a ton of credit. He's working hard. You can see he's making a concerted effort to play the game the right way. When he does that, he's such an elite player. He's dangerous.?

By the by: does anyone know Patric Hornqvist's team-given nickname? It's got to be the obvious, right?

They're down to their 5th string goalie now, too - a 19 year old emergency recall from the WHL. They also don't have any other goalies under contract.
