Little surprising that no deals have been done.

We got one

Let me rephrase:

It's a little surprising that no interesting deals have been done.

Is it, though? I feel like every year we hear there?s going to be so many huge deals at the draft, and, usually, there?s barely anything that noteworthy

Involving high picks? No, you're right about that. It does feel like some big deals get done in the day of or day before the draft that are player for player or player for picks or something.

Arizona's pick just called the Coyotes a "great organization" so we know he has no idea where he's going.
You ever been there, I spend a lot of time there and would leave Canada in a minute to live in North Scottsdale.  Fantastic place.

You know how the NBA just has the commissioner announce all the picks and it goes a lot quicker and smoother? Something to think about.

I go there a lot for work and prefer Canada. But I don't mind winter. I like going to Scottsdale for a week in winter, summer not so much.

Can't believe you idiots (myself) watched this entire thing.

Yeah that was not entertaining television.

Although I did learn that every first round pick is a great kid who loves their parents and that every team in the league is a great organization who's really got some great young talent so...you know.

A roundup of things that didn?t happen:

How expensive would it be to get Subban at a reduced salary (~$6-7M) I didn't realize he only has three years left on his deal.

The only way I could see that working under the cap would be if they traded Nylander or Marner for him.  But I wouldn?t do that deal ? too much of an age difference.

I'm not as sure that age is as much of a difference maker now that RFA deals are looking a lot like UFA deals.

When you had the Marners and Nylanders signing 3-4 year deals at half of UFA value while they were 22-25 years old, age was a bigger issue.
