Rosie DiManno wasn't much better either. Basically she suggested anyone who got near the record should retire.Nik said:I feel like the thing that's being missed is that, as I sort of alluded to earlier, nobody serious thinks of "Games Played" as an especially meaningful record. It's a testament to durability and competitiveness and all that stuff but I'm a big time sports fan and I don't know if I could tell you off-hand who is the all time leader in Games Played in Basketball, Baseball or Football(I'd guess Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Pete Rose and Tom Brady or Drew Brees)*. The Leafs leader in games played is George Armstrong and I know that because I'd look it up as a kid and be like "Who was George Armstrong?".
Marleau broke it and my thought was "Oh, that's nice". Some people wrote some nice articles about him. For someone like Simmons to feel the need to rain on that tiny, small parade shows just what a creep he is.
*I was 1 for 3.

I always thought cross checking was one of the easiest things to callz so they should just call it. Like you have to raise your hands with your stick across your body and bash a guy. I think we can do without it and players will adapt.CarltonTheBear said:https://twitter.com/wyshynski/status/1385017086741778433
It's absolutely insane that "all of them" won't be an option.

I'm pretty sure all NHL teams who have been vaccinated waited until they were eligible to receive the vaccine as per the U.S./State guidelines. Maybe having NHL connections helped get players on a team done in a quick/efficient manner but they all waited until they were eligible.
The NHL said they will not buy vaccines or jump the line and I don't think they did so here.OldTimeHockey said:After watching Lehner lose his mind yesterday over the lack of freedom, I think it's complete crap that 1-the NHL was able to go to the front of the line for vaccinations(yes I know in the states, companies can buy it) and 2-if the company's can buy the vaccine, why didn't the owners all throw in some cash and have the NHL buy it for all 31 teams?
I just dont get why they promised the players latitude then took it back without much explanation. Im sure if they said we were wrong these variants are crazy and we want to be good corporate citizens we will be extra careful until the numbers look very obviously better.OldTimeHockey said:After watching Lehner lose his mind yesterday over the lack of freedom, I think it's complete crap that 1-the NHL was able to go to the front of the line for vaccinations(yes I know in the states, companies can buy it) and 2-if the company's can buy the vaccine, why didn't the owners all throw in some cash and have the NHL buy it for all 31 teams?

I'm sure it's because the owners of the teams that aren't vaccinated yet said that it was an unfair advantage to grant these players freedom.
