Wow, did not know this. Totally normal stat for one of the best players in the league to have.

Matthews is getting the Sundin treatment, unsurprisingly.

And that's the funny thing.  They all complain about McDavid's lack of calls but it's even worse for many others...since 2016/17 McDavid has drawn the 2nd most penalties at 191..Matthews has drawn 86 good for 102 on the list..

Yup. for McDavid, it was bad in the playoffs last year and you can make an argument he should draw a lot more penalties than he currently does (even as one of the league leaders in the category), but he really shouldn't be the poster boy for the issue.

Do you think that behind the scenes the GM's show the league stats like this, along with a video of what is going on with the best players in their league?  How can the league think this is good for their business when you force those that are the most talented to skate through a death gauntlet just to attempt to get a goal?

Pionk to have a hearing with Player Safety and Spezza to have an in person hearing. Doesn't the latter mean at least 5 games?

That sounds more like him just saying he thinks he should be called up now. I doubt it happens. With Spezza out the team can still run: Matthews line, Tavares line, Ritchie-Kampf-Kase, and then Clifford/Anderson-Engvall-Simmonds on the 4th line. Or if Mikheyev is ready to return Ritchie goes to L4.

edit: Marner injury kinda slipped my mind. If his injury is more serious than it originally seemed then maybe.

Can't exactly call up a player who isn't under contract to the NHL team. There's a few steps along the way, and we likely would have heard some more reputable rumblings along the way...

CJ just said on Overdrive that Sandin will be out 2 to 3 weeks. That's what he heard so not too serious...that's great news.

Yep, let's hope it's charlie horsey?

EDIT:  They sometimes wait on determining the suspensions on these things until they know they know the degree of the injury, so maybe this is good news.

Dreger tweeted out that Marner might be out for another week or two.

If that?s the case what a tantrum he had at practice for getting injured.

Let's hope the Leafs can get back to that lockdown style they were playing.  I think they got away from it a bit over the last three games.  Not entirely the teams fault, but tonight would be a good night to limit the shots and play some low-event hockey in their own end.

Injury updates from Keefe today:

-Marner: shoulder injury, worse than previously thought, out 3-4 weeks
-Dermot: also shoulder injury, not as bad as Marner's
-Sandin: on crutches at the moment but no structural damage which is good news, out 2-3 weeks

Just run Nylander with him. Tavares can lift fast, straight line plugs.

Yeah they can't do this "rotate 4th liners with him" thing for 4 weeks. I get they're hesitant to break up Kampf-Kase but as the only other skilled righty in the line-up Kase probably needs to get up in the top-6. Maybe once Mikheyev is back shortly Keefe will feel more comfortable doing that.

OMG!!! I got it.  I cracked the code.  Move Nick Ritchie to the right side.  Problem solved.  You're welcome Leaf nation.

He does already play like he's using the wrong sided stick
