Why are they doing this?
Guess they want him to play 3 games or so there to see how he does before giving him another shot in the NHL for a few more. Can't send him to the AHL directly so the only other place is back to junior and he needs to play. Move buys them at least 3 games.

A better question for me might be why is a team allowed to healthy scratch a player and then send him on a conditioning stint in the first place.

This is their way of avoiding sending him to the OHL until he plays that one game against Montreal and then gets sent to the World Juniors

Boston has 85 goals for and 47 goals against at the 21 game mark.

Coming in second in the league is NJD with 77 for and also 47 against at 21 games.

The Leafs are at 68 for and 58 against at 22 games.

If I remember correctly, they tried banking a couple off Murray in the last game as well.

Hughes practices this shot regularly for these opportunities.

I also recall a Sundin-Mogilny set play using a similar shot to good effect for several goals (one-timers from the red-line corner into the open net).

On the power play Tucker used to set up down low between the circle and the red line hiding in the corner to hammer a one timer off of a Kaberle pass

Oh yeah, he took over that spot after Mogilny moved on.

Network hockey coverage isn't going to draw the line here between the player and the world junior team embroiled in the legal scandal that toppled the Hockey Canada board and its decades of cover ups, is it? Or maybe they are, but how little they're covering this compared to Nylander.

I think this is an interesting development.  Both he nor Batherson have released comments on it, and Batherson is currently playing for the team.  I'm not sure where this ends up, but the lack of news on the Formenton front feels like he is going to be the one that eventually takes the fall for this.  Which may be fair if he was the ring leader.

This is less McDavid being lazy and more Florida being stupidly aggressive (and sloppy) on the PK with 3 attackers against 4 defenders while their lone D-man goes for a change. McDavid reads the development easily and takes full advantage. Hyman gets one of the easiest points he's ever had since Nylander gave him a goal mouth drop pass on a 2-on-1.
