Edmonton Oilers

Quinn Hutson signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Oilers on Monday that begins this season.

The 23-year-old forward, who was a college free agent, was on the ice for practice. He is the older brother of Montreal Canadiens rookie defenseman Lane Hutson.

"I think it's just a great spot, great opportunity here," Quinn said. "I think there's a lot of opportunities to develop here; obviously, it's a great setup. I'm just excited to get started."

Quinn led Boston University this season with 50 points (23 goals, 27 assists) in 37 games, helping it reach the Frozen Four national championship game, a 6-2 loss to Western Michigan on Saturday.

He played three seasons at BU, getting 28 points (15 goals, 13 assists) in 39 games as a freshman and 36 points (18 goals, 18 assists) in 40 games last season.

Edmonton (47-28-5) is third in the Pacific Division, two points behind the Kings, who they played on Monday.

Quinn and Lane’s younger brother, Washington Capitals prospect Cole Hutson, also played for BU this season. The 18-year-old freshman defenseman had 48 points (14 goals, 34 assists) in 39 games. He was selected by Washington in the second round (No. 43) of the 2024 NHL Draft.

Lane Hutson leads NHL rookies this season with 65 points (six goals, 59 assists) in 81 games.

Columbus won in regulation to keep heat on Montreal for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Montreal can still clinch with a point against Carolina tomorrow.
If they fail to get a point, Columbus would have to get a regulation win against the Islanders to pass Montreal and get in.

Minnesota clinched a playoff spot by tying the game with 22 seconds left and securing at least a point. They put Fleury in net for overtime for what will probably be his last ever appearance and he wins it in overtime. Hockey can be very, very cool sometimes.

Now that everything's confirmed we have the:

Battle of Ontario
Battle of Florida
Ovi vs. maybe the next great Russian
Taylor Hall vs. his old team (ok that one's a stretch)

Hellebuyck vs. Binnington rematch + Schenn vs. Schenn
Rantanen vs. his old team (actual storyline)
LA vs. Edmonton version 4
Fleury vs. his old team (another stretch)

A lot of pretty good storylines going on in round 1.

We must, at all costs for the sake of the continuum (not that it's all that great right now), prevent the Playoff Tkachuk Bowl. In fact, it would be best to have an inverse Tkachuk Bowl (Tkachuk Dome?) where they are both watching the rest of the playoffs from the comfort of their own homes.

The path to the Cup for the Leafs involves Tampa eliminating Florida..... in 7 bloody and exhausting games.

First Iafallo, now Pionk:

I can't comment much here, as I don't watch Jets games, but a RHD that plays 22 minutes a night, PK and some PP, and is second in scoring for D behind only Morrissey for $7m doesn't seem too bad at all.

The Ottawa Senators captain confirmed to reporters that he will be back in the lineup for Thursday's regular-season finale against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Tkachuk has been out since March 30 due to an upper-body injury and has missed the team's past 10 games.

Let's see how he fares in a tune up match against the Chicago Wolves.
