2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Leafs have been messing with Robertson for years. Why stop now?

This is player-elected arbitration. Leafs didn't even low ball him that much on this case, which are usually lower than what teams have actually slid across the negotiation table to try to bring the arbitration award amount down.

I think the truth is in your answer.

Exactly the Jonatan Berggren deal that I suggested as a comp in the general trade thread. MLHS brought it up in their pre-arb article this morning.

Good deal if he can stick in the lineup and not fall over every shift.

Good deal of they'll actually play him.
There's been instances that Robertson has been given opportunities to move up the line up and he's never put forth the performance to "stick". He's not going to get a lot of PP1 time, and he's definitely not getting PK time....so the only way for him to earn more ice time is to stick on one of the top two lines.
To be honest, if Jarnkrok/Macelli have bounce back seasons, I'm not even sure that Robertson has a spot in the lineup.

I dont think 89 has been given a great chance. Both Holmberg and McMann did so why not give him a legit chance. I think he would do well on PP1. And he could be a good PKer. Kid has the wheels and a shot.
Jarnkrok is pure garbage at this stage and needs to go. He does nothing in the playoffs. Leafs need guys that can play solid defensively and score. Florida's B6 destroyed...Leafs need something of a threat from their B6.

Like said, "if Jarnkrok has a bounce back season". And speaking of garbage in the playoffs, Berube didn't even feel that Robertson had a spot in the playoff lineup. That's two coaches in a row. Again, anytime he's been given opportunities, he's fallen flat on his face. Figuratively and literally. He's wildly inconsistent. Hence the lack of playing time
