When I plugged him in at $2mil the other day I realized that would have made things tricky for the Leafs to fully utilize all of Domi's LTIR space (if/when that happens), so I figured that he would come in a little lower than that. Even better that they got it to that number on 2-year deal though.

Now the Leafs have a few different ways it looks like to utilize about 99% of Domi's cap hit on LTIR. See, who needs Pridham.
 
Feels like a forward (Joshua?) and probably Rielly and Myers are still on the way out to try to squish in a trade for a skater in the top half of the lineup

Yeah, Joshua can't be making what he's making and playing a fourth line role. Then again we did sign Sissons on an inefficient contract... 😒

Ideally it’s Domi’s money going out instead but he’s injured and maybe a better team mascot at this point. Lorentz is the other option but hems Bob and Stolie’s joint custody golden retriever (wish he was a more of a Malinois).

But I wonder about Villeneuve and not being waiver exempt ...
Chayka doesn't seem very concerned about him - maybe due to his skating

So I'm not sure. Still thinking it over.

One way or another, the Leafs need to plan for the eventuality that Tanev doesn't play a lot this season.

Yeah, that’s what sticks out to me. They only have 4 established top 6 options. Borque just moved for a reasonable package, but was Chayka too busy signing an extra pair of bottom six veterans to get in on that? Shouldn’t some of the bottom six be graduated Marlies on league-minimum contracts?

Everything is short term, and they’re the type of guys you’d sign if you wanted to collect futures at some future trade deadline. They are, in other words, the sort of things a GM would do if Auston Matthews said he’s here for another run or two, but not committing beyond that
