Armchair GM Thread 2025/26

It's a shame because I think Roy is pretty decent and we could definitely use him as the 3C compared to some of the other players on the roster.
I agree but that would have been ideal 3 years ago. It's kinda too late now. Smart teams pivot and restock. Is this a smart team?

Would you do a Cowan or Knies for Simon Nemec deal? New Jersey want's to upgrade their forwards.
I really don't want to move knies. I know it's a down year but I believe it's injury related. When was the last time the leafs had a potential power forward? And this young?

I can't think of a single one other than Clark since I started watching the leafs in 89.

Leafs need a 2C so 91 can move to 3C. That should be the plan. Roy and his 20pts so far is expendable. If the price is good, leaning on reasonable, you look at moving every one not named Matthews, Nylander, Knies, Cowan, McCabe, Woll, Hildeby.
91 can take draws but truthfully I wonder if he's better served on the wing like Stamkos.

No argument that they should pivot, but it's a shame it's not working out for Nic as he did play well in Vegas, that's all. And no, this is not a smart team.

JT can be a really good checking 3C with fast forechecky defensively responsible wingers (not expensive). He doesn't need much to score (throw it into the slot or force a rebound, shots from the point, grinder goals), but he just needs support moving the puck up into the OZ.
