Ah yes, that one isolated obscure matter of...scoring goals.

His one-timers are piss missiles.

Worst of all his Heartitude is a -4.5, his Gritty Competeness percentage is a miserable 33% and his AppealtoloudmouthedknownothingCherryfans Quotient is a pathetic Gorfty-Seven.

Gorfty-Six. Quit giving the Entitled Bum a free pass.

Certainly:
It starts off talking about the fairly generic things you'd expect of a youngster getting more professional - changes he's made to his routines and he talks about focusing more on being ready pre-game and using the resources that the Leafs make available to ensure he's ready to go.
Talks a bit about avoiding social media also and acknowledging that while he feels he hadn't been playing as well of late he'd rather focus on positives than subject himself to negative social media. Also talks about keeping loose and being aware that if you do some of your warm up in a different order it shouldn't get in your head and impact your game.
- But the real interesting bits I think and where I feel he's quite candid are his recognition that his line needs to improve. He references both the Edmonton and Calgary games and says they were having far too many one and done chances and they need to learn to be more relentless.
- Also discusses Keefe's system and notes that while players have more licence to roam there still needs to be structure to ensure you're in a position to help or cover a team mate. Recognises that the team haven't quite mastered this yet and have had 2 players in the same place and left gaps.
- Feels that he has improved defensively since he came into the league but as a centre he has to continue developing and learning. References that one of the best forms of defence is possessing the puck and faceoffs are crucial in that and he feels he has improved in the faceoff circle. Feels that continued improvement in these "little things" should help to drive bigger things.
- Feels he has another level to go to as far as goalscoring. He has been working on developing a one timer (the "piss missiles" Herman mentioned) and he needs to be better on the powerplay which the one timer will hopefully help. He's been working on these with assistant coach Paul McFarland and he specifically asked Barrie to try and feed this on the powerplay on Tuesday as he feels ready to start utilising it on games on the PP now.
It's hard to convey the tone of the interview, but I just felt that when you think of the immaturity he displayed in the summer, when it comes to the game the tone of this came across as pretty mature, candid and willing to admit weaknesses but also a confidence that he can continue to get even better not just at goal scoring but also at other things that will potentially make him a better all round player but also an even better goal scorer
