Man Komarov is a black hole. How do you possibly miss from there.

Bobrovsky did a great job getting back into position to make that save. Not sure it would have counted if it had gone in - probably would have been overturned on goaltender interference.

Really smart defense by Dermott when Gardiner blew a tire. Instead of chasing the puck on the weak side, he immediately pulls up to cover the net front.

I think you?re giving him the benefit of the doubt. Regardless of whether it would have counted he had no stock and Komarov shot directly at the crest.

So you've been boosting Dermott all night.  What do you think of this young kid?  Is he just playing on adernaline as Noodles suggested, or is he the Gardiner we all want Gardiner to be?

He?s different than Gardiner in style. He?s not a weaver or pass threader.

He?s a defensively aggressive version of Rielly (similar builds) but not as outright fast or offensively inclined. Way more physical, way more aggressive playing up on forwards. He has neutralized a lot of potential transition plays tonight with anticipation and just smothering the carrier almost immediately. There is no sag in his play. The best description to me probably is that he is really assertive.

The real test will be how he adjusts when teams have more scouting on him.

I liked the way Nylander broke up that cycle and shielded off the puck, but the flip pass out needed more mustard. That could?ve ended poorly for us.

Thanks, good observations.  The only thing I'd disagree with is that he looks like we can weave pretty good when he has open ice.

I complain a lot about the defense but if this guy and Borgman pan out as regulars, that would be something.
