So uh, 2-0.

That lineup Columbus has may not be pretty but at least they have 4 lines that hustle and work hard.

People can point to the team's record all they want, but the amount of games that the Leafs have started with uninspired and disinterested play is a clear sign that there's something wrong with the coaching staff. I mean, this is just sad. The talent gap is overwhelmingly in the Leafs' favour tonight, but the Jackets are the only team that came to play.

In know it's early, he just got back, blah blah blah, but Bozak looks eerily like Wellwood out there. A Wellwood making many millions of dollars and playing on the first line.

Also, it's plays like that first goal which really make you see why Randy needs that big, lumbering, terrible fourth line.  Sure, they're terrible offensively, defensively and in every other facet of the game but look at those intangibles.

I've said this before, I couldn't give a rat's ass who plays on the fourth line...I just want to see some defensive play from the first two lines, and the last two pairings.

Deal with that stuff first, then we can screw around with the line that plays 5 minutes a game.

Sure but the fourth line that plays 5 minutes a game just got the team a goal with its shoddy coverage. I care about the rest of the stuff too, but there's no reason not to ice the best possible team.

It doesn't concern you having a line that you can NEVER trust to play more than 5:00 per night?  What's the point of them if you can't trust them enough to play them more than 5:00 per night and after the 2nd period?  There will be games where it would be beneficial to have a 4th line that isn't a total liability.

3 shifts for the 4th line that I've seen.  1 resulted in a goal against and the other two resulted in sustained Columbus pressure.  This is what's annoying about the line, especially in a game like this.  No hope of them giving any momentum.

What a pathetic display in that period. Gardiner, Fraser, Franson were awful and the top 2 lines look totally disinterested.

Nobody can make a pass.

They're making a really pedestrian team look like contenders.

Embarrassing.

At the very least, part of that defensive accountability that Frank is looking for should necessitate some form of punishment for not following through with it...that might mean losing ice-time to players who work harder.  Right now if the 4th line plays more the Leafs are overtly giving up on winning.

Given their goals against, I'm really not that concerned with the fourth line right now.

As I said, let's get the top 12 in ice-time playing some proper two-way hockey...then we can talk about which one of plugs to play on the fourth line.  I just think it's a Red Herring right now, especially with the only significant injury being Bolland.

The talent gap between the Leafs and Columbus is huge.  The face that Randy can't muster the team to give a better effort than this is pretty disgraceful.
