Blue Jackets @ Leafs - Oct. 21st, 7:00pm - SN, Fan 590

None of these penalties have been egregious but it's pretty hard to argue with any of them. Why the Leafs keep trying to defend with their sticks like this is pretty sloppy.

I don't disagree at all.  Of the 15 calls against them I don't think there have been many that aren't legitimate penalties.  It's just that those same plays don't seem to be getting called going the other way right now.

Spezza comes out of the box, has a guy wide open for a tap in on the 4 on 2 but decides to shoot it directly into the bread basket.  Then the leafs get hemmed in for another minute.  Spezza is bad.

I feel like those things tend to even out though. I'm really more interested in what it says about how the Leafs play without the puck then trying to find some sort of meaning in a small sample size of unevenly distributed calls.

Andersen decides to pass it to CBJ instead of a wide open Barrie.  Puck skills leave a lot to be desired.

Am I crazy or does it seem like modern linesmen are just getting worse and worse at avoiding the play?
