Blues @ Leafs - Mar. 25th, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

this is the only reason the Leafs will veto any deal to have another Toronto team. People would jump ship in a second.

Ha, even the Blues player thought it was a penalty.

...and again with Gunnar, how do they miss that?

It sucks that they are missing these because the power play is really the only hope.

Is Dion ever not on when we get scored on?

Rielly, Gleason and Franson are all on the ice for more goals against per 20:00 of ice-time than Phaneuf.  Gunnarsson is around the same as Phaneuf, and Gardiner is best on the team.

I'd be interesting to see what the stats are in the past 25 games. I'm sure they're completely different.  He really inflated his plus/minus early in the season.

Luck was up earlier in season, down lately.  There was good and bad play in both halves of his season, but it's hard to get through all the hyperbole with him to really see it.

Based on his defensive play the past several seasons, I'd say luck was up early in the season and is he's getting back to around normal now.

I'd say the truth is somewhere in the middle, but his numbers, both offensively and in the analytics department, have taken a hit since coming to Toronto and again further since Carlyle has been hired.  He was never a defensive defenseman cornerstone in Calgary, so it's hard for me to expect that from him here.  And with the way the entire Leafs team plays, it's hard to gauge how good or bad he really is.

I think there's reason to think with another good-to-great d-man as a partner he would look a lot better overall.  I don't think he's nearly as bad as is made out, but that doesn't mean I think he's great or anything.  He tends to get less benefit of the doubt from the fanbase at large than anyone on the roster or any player on the Leafs in my recent memory.  So again, it's hard to wade through that (see the reply I got above for instance).

When you compare our team with STL, the immense distance between them, well, that's how far we still are from being a real contender.  No way we can get to their level with a few nips and tucks and a coaching change.
