Lupul ? Bozak ? Kessel
MacArthur ? Grabovski ? Kulemin
JvR ? Kadri ? Frattin
Komarov ? McClement ? Orr/McLaren

Yup, that'd be my group going forward this year.  Imagine upgrading Bozak with a true number 1 center somehow?  Getzlaf slots in there so nicely it's crazy.

Yeah but I think for that to happen, somehow his wife has to be convinced that Toronto is as nice as California.

That's like convincing your new girlfriend that date rape drugs are like aphrodisiacs. :o

This is what you came up with AFTER editing?

That's like taking a mulligan and still missing the two foot putt.

Loved Brownie, He always gave it his all even if he wasn't the most blessed with skill he made up for it in work ethic. I wish the rest of the leafs had half as much hustle on a consistent basis.

Looks like i'll need a new avatar as well.

Of the three tough guys (Brown, McLaren, Orr), Brown was the one I would have been less inclined to move.  He has the ability to be more than an enforcer -- a hard-working, tenacious, muck-it-up 4th liner.  The other guys are stiffs in my eyes.

Obviously Carlyle disagrees based on the amount of minutes he gives Orr and the style he likes to play.

To be said though, if none of these three were in the lineup it wouldn't bother me.

Hey. The mind starts to go a little wonky after working in Final Cut Pro for 10 hours straight. ;)

Addition by subtraction, I like it.  I couldn't take anymore of Brown's stupid penalties night after night.

I disagree on all of your points.  Brown plays sloppy hockey, which is why he takes penalties.  Brown goes out on the ice with no plan other than to be physical, yet he hasn't learned when to use it and when to hold back.  His positioning reflects his lack of hockey sense, the guy was always out of position.

Agreed. Brown would be a guy you wouldn't sit in a playoff game or round. I guess he'd also be the only one of the three to fetch anything worth while in a trade.

When Brown was at his best as a Leaf (definitely not this year), he was one of the better enforcers they had in a while, what with not only his pugilistic skills as a fighter but the ability to contribute offensively as well.  For a 'small' player, be stood up well in the fight arena.

Good luck to Brown in Edmonton.

I'll miss Brown's work ethic and moustache (is "moustache ethic" a thing?).  I'm not sure I would have picked him, but it isn't an easy choice.

Hope Steckel isn't next, as some are suggesting; I like him, too.

I'll definitely miss his hustle. If that's the most I can say about Brown (outside of the awesome mustache), well...yeah...I'll take the 4th rounder.

Not sure if this was mentioned at any point, but last week McLaren was apparently told by the Leafs to move out of his hotel and find a permanent place to live in Toronto. That's usually a pretty good indicator they plan on keeping you for the season. He could use that same place if he's sent to the Marlies, but there's no guarantee that he'll get through waivers so I don't think the Leafs would have made him make that commitment if they planned on sending him down.

You must love editing.  You did it for 10 hours and then both posts in this thread.  :D

Once it's in your bloodstream it's hard to control.  :D

I'm going to miss Brown.

I didn't mind Brown, he was pretty good for the Leafs, but I understand the move, especially getting a 4th, potentially a 3rd for him. Good deal!
