Bernier has allowed more putrid goals that Reimer has... thats 3 tonight

You're putting that one on Bernier?

Yeah somehow that's on Bernier, and not on the team's two highest paid players.

I'd actually give more credit to Lucic than I would assign blame to either Kessel or Phaneuf.

That's how you play with a lead. Forecheck and force the desperate team to make mistakes. Not sit back in a little box in the middle of the ice and let the other team shoot 40 times in a row. But that is neither here nor there. Good 1st period at least.

Off course you would.

Yes. It's my bad for recognizing that, sometimes, players on the other team are good, and their abilities have more to do with the goal going in that mistakes made by players on the Leafs. I never said Kessel or Phaneuf were blameless, but, that goal doesn't happen with many players other than Lucic carrying the puck down the wing.

I buy Kessel, everyone coughs up the puck at times and doing so deep in the opposing zone can't be said to directly result in a goal, but it's not like Lucic just powered through Phaneuf, he just stepped around him and Phaneuf couldn't keep up which is something that had happened all game.

Lucic does look extremely impressive. He's taken his game to another level this season.

His performance compared to last season is night and day.

I just hope they treat Arn to a good game - he travelled a long way for this one!

Go Leafs Go!!!!

Cheers so much Scott, really appreciate you sorting me out for this. Shame about the result, but I still had a great night all round.

A few thoughts from the game, in random order as I recall them.

The first period I thought the Leafs were actually pretty awesome. So much more energy from the 4th line, even with McLaren on it. With the Bruins rep of late I was happy enough to see him dressed and I think he adds more than Orr.

What happened in the 2nd? It was like two different teams. Clearing the zone is such an issue. Raymond had an age to clear it, kind of stuttered and then his lane was gone and 10 seconds later the puck was in the net - all be it on a pretty nice goal. He was far from the only one. They all seem to hold on to it rather than clear it, possibly afraid of icing?

3rd period first half was much better again but they ran out of ideas and gas after the half way point.

Clarkson - he brings more than you notice on TV. He works very hard and does a lot of the dirty stuff. I'd be a bit less critical of him than I have in the past.

I thought Ranger had a pretty good game at both ends of the ice.

Kessel is pretty fast.

Thought their goalie was there for the taking, he flubbed a lot of simple stops early on but we didn't crash the net to capitalise.

Bernier's flying save was one of the best I've ever seen in person.

In summary, 3400 mile trip and they went and lost it on me :(
