Oh Oh....translates to why didn't you trade for Jason Blake?... :-X because
we know after all, that SN and TSN owners know how to run a fantasy league.

The way Duthie explained it was the style had much more to do with his public persona than his management style.

Public persona? Honestly? That's their issue? Of all the idiot reasons this one has to take the cake. Maybe its the way he deals with the media and the media boys wanted to reign it in and sanitize it. Ridiculous.

I still think that if that was the case, they should have done it at the end of the season, as opposed to now, but I agree with you. Doing it during the lockout would have been even more of a media show.

But remember, "they" have only been in place since August. New owners, new president of MLSE.

Sounds like Bell and Rogers didn't like the mouthpiece and are changing the approach with public relations. I think a vast majority of the fans will like this move, we'll see.

Well, the team is now owned by the two largest media conglomerates in the country . . .

Yes, I thought of this after the president said it, after I wrote that out.

If this firing is based on Burkes record, what can be said to those people who wanted the Leafs to do a long and proper rebuild??

That they're right? That the guy who half-donkeyed it got fired?

So, you're saying Burke would still be GM had he gone the route of a full blown rebuild?

Well, it's tough to say at this point without entirely not knowing the whys of Burke getting fired but I don't think this firing refutes that in any meaningful way.

How come Nonis looks like he just shot his best friend in the parking lot to steal his girlfriend?

Because he likes Burke and probably feels lousy that he got fired.

Because one of his closest friends just lost his job, and he's the one replacing him. I mean, he is human and all . . .

"Senior adviser" is an empty title.  He was an adviser in Anaheim too before walking to the Leafs.

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Awkward day for Nonis. Very close to Burke. But you can't turn down the chance. I'm a big believer in Nonis' GM abilities

Makes no sense to keep him on as an advisor.

Lebrun speculates having Burke stay on would have been a big deal for Nonis, and others have stated it might just be until his contract runs out.

Yeah, Nonis just touched on that. Burke told him he will always help him out as best as I can. I suspect staying on speaks to their relationship. - Not his relationship with MLSE.
