Capitals @ Leafs - Nov. 23rd, 7:00pm - CBC, SN 590

Well, that was a very entertaining, wide open game.

A playoff series between these two would be amazing to watch I think.

Nonis should look for a new coach. Winning record or not, some players are really wasted under Carlyle.

It'll probably get lost in the joy of a win, but it's another game with zero even-strength scoring and only 1 overall.

Carlyle just needs to get off of playing a 3-line team.  You can't do that over 82 games.  It'll kill the skaters and it will definitely wear out the goalies.

Good job Dion.

Are you serious?

You bet I am. If you're not going to go after the puck at least try and get in front of the shot. Replay was hilarious. Look on his face was like don't hit me with the shot OV. Should of stood up instead of back pedalling.

I don't think you even watched the replay.  Phaneuf was playing to get the puck being dumped towards him, instead of bouncing to him, the puck bounced back instead of forward and right to Ovechkin.  Ovechkin shot it instantly before Phaneuf could react to that.

But you find any reason to criticize Phaneuf despite how great he's played so whatever.  I'm sick of "debating" with you.

If you call that moving forward he basically stopped and then tried to come forward but was screwed. Should have been up towards the puck where it was coming down hitting the ice. He was back pedalling and then avoided the shot. Finally I'm not the only one u seem to debate with so I'm sure you'll find someone else.

If he comes up on that play and the puck bounces past him, Ovechkin blows by him and is in alone.

Ya I could see that but I was thinking more of coming up and playing the puck even batting it forward probably would have been better. He got caught flat footed.

How can any human being possibly do that considering it was literally a split second and the puck took a fluky bounce backward? It is absolutely asinine to complain about that play.

And he's only started consecutive games twice this season.

He's only started on Saturdays in November, because, umm . . . Carlyle!

Not that Bernier's been bad or anything, but, Reimer has just been a little bit better and deserves more starts.

True, but still Holtby robbed us a couple of times and Phaneuf was just unlucky in the 3rd with the post.

Under Wilson the Leafs played entertaining hockey and they were loosing, under Carlyle they are winning but there are periods which are truly unwatchable. Carlyle should split his salary and give to Reimer and Bernier.

Possibly, but it's more a comment on the team thus far and going forward.  You can get away with it in individual games but it's not sustainable to win games this way (unless Reimer/Bernier play insane for 82 games) over the long haul.  It's just indicative of an area the team has had struggles with all season.

I've come around to the fact that the goalies' great play is masking how bad a coach Carlyle is. His decisions become more baffling by the day.

Thanks Reimer for the 2 points.

Kessel with 18:23 of ice-time tonight, but 2:04 of that was in overtime so 16:19 in regulation. So 5 of his past 6 games he's been under 16:20 in regulation, including 4 in a row.

It's not really masking it for anyone who has eyes.
