Jonathan Bernier starts tonight against Phoenix. Bernier has a .975 save percentage in three career games vs. Coyotes.

jonasTSN1050: Seems like Janes Reimer may start after all. First goalie off the ice.

Mind games!

Wait a minute... This guy is slacking off at work?  Someone get his boss on the line.

You've probably seen a noticeable spike in posting activity around 8:45 to 9:30 am.  :P

The only mind games I liked was by John Lennon.

I am out in Arizona and went to quite a few games including Klinkhammers first for the Yotes.  Great young player, scored in his first game.  I am going to finally watch a Leaf game on the computer, as I will be at the rubber match at the end of Jan at the Jobing Center. have 3rd row seats for 90 bucks.LOL
The Yotes are a well coached tight team, to bad about Doan as he is one of my favourites, sort of like what Clarkson could be if he put his mind to it.
Keep an Eye on Yandle and Larson on the D and Stone is impressive as well.

Small Coyotes note:

Gilbert Brule likely draws in for #Coyotes. 1st #NHL game since May 15, '12. Bissonnette likely to sit. Had a talk with Tippett at AM skate

I was at the Panthers game on Monday  and some things I noticed that may or may not have been evident on tv:

- The players were VERY quiet. No communication on the bench at all, no communication on the ice. It was strange as even my beer league team pump each other up on the bench and talk about what's going on out on the ice.

- Very flat skating, no puck support. For example Rielly was in a tough spot holding the puck in the line, and when he looked around to find someone to pass it to, the other 4 guys weren't even moving!

- Rielly was by far their most effective d-man. He makes smart decisions with the puck and is positional defensively. Fraser, Gunnarsson, and Phaneuf were god-awful.

- Kessel started the rush in the 3rd a lot when Rielly wasn't on the ice as he is one of the only players who can read the ice and make a smart play. Shouldn't he be up front and be the one to receive a pass? I wish that the Leafs had more d-men who can properly start a rush (Liles).

I've noticed this all season, but, yeah, it was very apparent from being at the game on Tuesday. The Panthers always seemed to have a couple guys in motion when their D had the puck - even if those were only circling in the neutral zone. The Leaf forwards were pretty stationary until the 3rd period, and, not surprisingly, they started getting a lot more offensive zone time.

Also, their puck recovery was awful until the 3rd (largely because of the lack of speed they had entering the zone because they were stationary), whereas Florida's was pretty good.

Would that we had their coaching.  And their D, for that matter.

It's hockey 101. Pretty easy to cover players when they aren't moving.

The puck seemed so slippery around the Leafs players in the first 2 periods it felt like a joke. It hurt watching Clarkson. Terrible puck management overall.

Paul Hendrick ‏@HennyTweets

jvr/kadri/kessel.
Lupul/holland/raymond.
Kulemin/mcclement/clarkson.
D'amigo/smithson/bodie

Phaneuf skates with gunnarsson. Franson pairs up with gardiner. Liles and rielly are the 3rd pairing.

Poor D'Amigo.

That might be the best spot for Clarkson though. No offence is expected from that line so as long as he works hard he could make a positive impact.

Two lines with no offense expected - catch the taste!

EDIT: Thought it is preferable that McLaren is out, so that's good.

What's Rielly's TOI lately?  It seems like it's been increasing.

(I'm looking at you Mr Statsdump.  ;)  )
