Coyotes @ Leafs - Mar. 10th, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

Ending sucked, but I don't understand why Keefe waited until 4 goals to pull Mrazek.  He said post game he thought about pulling him after the 2nd goal, so why didn't he pull him at least after the 3rd?  It was obvious to anyone watching that Mrazek was lost out there.  I know Kallgren had never played before, but he was at least in position and not swimming in the net.  The Leafs weren't facing a high powered offense like the Avalanche either, throw the kid in there earlier.

I thought Keefe should have pulled Mrazek after the 2nd goal too. I have the text at 7:16pm to prove it.  ;D

The first two goals were two of the most pathetic goals I'd seen in a long time.

I don't see a scenario where Dubas can ignore the goaltending at the deadline.
Well you're going to see one because I don't see a goalie out there that the Leafs are going to take a run at. All of them are crapshoots just like our guys.  My bro told me he heard a guy on the radio, who tracks goalies stats that said Jack was the best goalie in the league for goals allowed above expected. He was the worst for that stat in Feb. Said he's never seen anything like that in 20+ years .
I still think one of these guys is going to get it together. I also think this is a chance to see what Kallgren has. It will hopefully force the team to play better defensively because lets face it, despite the bad goaltending, they haven't been all that great either. Even last night, nobody can get a stick on the 2nd goal. Liljegren bumps Mrazek out on the 3rd goal and Willy runs a perfect screen on the 4th goal...and I'm not excusing Mrazek because he looked terrible but you need to clean that stuff up.
The team has been playing scared and so have the goalies. Their confidence in each other is down and we all know if you're playing scared, you'll make more mistakes.

Upper bold: yes
Lower bold: eeeeeeennnnnnnnh I dunno
Haha...it might be Kallgren.

You think Dubas' Stanley Cup plan is revolved around Kallgren in net and hoping for the best?

No but they might not have a choice. There isn't much out there that moves the needle for me. I honestly think Jack will get it together when he comes back and I hope Mrazek can get it going. That injury really screwed both goalies up. Jack never got a break and Mrazek is trying to play catch up after missing 2 months. I still think the Leafs should aim for a top 4 D man and as much as Muzz has struggled, they def miss him back there.

I'm hopeful that the rest and recovery will help Campbell.

There's a very distinct drop off point in his play - the COVID break. Before that, he was still performing well (maybe not at the Vezina calibre level he did for a while, but nowhere near enough to bring about the kind of handwringing we see now). Maybe another break will flip the script.

Pre COVID break: 23 gp, 15-5-2, .937 Sv%, 1.94 GAA, 3 SO, 43 GA, 17.15 GSAA
Post COVID break: 17 gp, 9-4-2, .882 Sv%, 3.63 GAA, 1 SO, 58 GA, -11.17 GSAA

I think he got thrown off his rhythm, which, combined with whatever minor injuries he may or may not have been dealing with, tanked his performances. Thankfully, both those issues are fixable.

Mrazek, on the other hand, has just been bad this season. Don't have much hope in him regaining form this season. and it could be that the injuries he's struggled with over his career have taken a little too much off his reaction time, etc. for him to ever really recover. Unless there's a team willing to take him for basically nothing, he's a buyout candidate this summer.

I'd agree with you Campbell if we were in Jan-Feb, but we're mid-March here...and he's out for a couple of weeks (at least they said)...so he really won't have much time to regain his form.

If goaltending bounces them in the first round again, I'm not sure Dubas survives it.

Mrazek hasn't ever looked any good, and looks like a big booboo signing.

That's why I'm still of the opinion that I think Dubas is going to have to go out and pay the moon for a goalie before/at the deadline.

If his issues are largely psychological and minor injury related, he won't need much time to regain his form.

As for a trade at the deadline, there just aren't great options out there. Goalies that represent meaningful enough upgrades either play for teams in the playoff hunt or are part of their team's futures. Outside of Fleury (who reportedly doesn't want to be traded, and the Hawks have said they'll respect that), there might not be anyone available that's more than a lateral move.

Read somewhere that Matthews has only drawn 5 penalties all year? Hard to believe, I think, but I can't remember the last time he was fouled and a penalty was called.

Maybe TO can spare another 3rd for Rittich, like last year, he's been playing for Nashville, he's 4-2-1 with a 3.17 GAA and .890 SV%.

I think it's actually 7 but whatever, not good. If the Leafs do get a goalie, it will be a back up type guy. Maybe Reimer. I wouldn't mind seeing them swap Mrazek for Driedger out of Seattle. Similar cap hits and numbers and he's struggling out there. Maybe a change of scenery will be good for both, who knows. I guess we'll see how he does tomorrow. I think he's a lot better then he's shown for sure but can he get it back in form? We're going to find out

I hated Babcock with a passion but Keefe is clueless. I hope it goes to 3-0.
Yeah winningest regular season coach in Leafs history is clueless

Along with a few on here.

I don't say much on here...

You do realize your takes are so bad, most people on this site have you on ignore, right?

Everyone has their opinions that?s why it?s a forum and I couldn?t care less who has me on ignore or not. Problem with some on here is their take on this team is the same as management. We?ll see how far they go in the playoffs. It?s a win win for me if they do well great if they get ousted in the first round something will give. Either scrap management or retool the core.
