There was supposed to be an asterisk there.

How do you know this?
How don't you know this?
Good lord.
Ask a stupid question, and, well, you know...
Make a stupid, baseless assertion and, well, you know...
?Bolland [has] been everything we?ve asked, because he?s a player you can move up and down in the lineup and he plays and practises at a very high pace.
?It?s not that he is immune to making mistakes. He makes mistakes as we all do. But it?s not a mistake through laziness ever. He may read the situation wrong, but it?s never laziness and he?s a model for our younger players. There?s a huge learning curve for a lot of young players in the league and on our team; David Bolland would be a guy that they should hang onto.?

I was looking for more quotes from the his teammates on his return that addressed his leadership abilities that I remember reading/hearing but I can't find them.

That's Brian "3 assists in 56 games this season" Bickell.

Maybe the Blackhawks made a mistake?

Honestly, though, those quotes don't say a thing about leadership. They show how Carlyle thinks Bolland has some attributes that younger players should emulate - which may very well be true - but, that's really the extent of it.

Maybe they did, but, if Bolland has the level of leadership that some here and in the media have attributed to him, that's not a decision they would have made. Keeping Bickell over Bolland looks like a mistake, but, it's a mistake due more to performance than any off ice qualities.

That's the quote I could find but I definitely remember more. The coach says he is a model for younger players, brings a high work ethic, leads by example, and his team mates talk about his leadership abilities.

Carlyle has said the same stuff about David Clarkson, but it doesn't change the fact that he's been terrible this season.
