And my point is that the one I mentioned is.  There you have it: an irreconcilable difference of opinion.  I'm afraid our marriage is over.

I'm getting the Leafs fandom in the settlement.

Yeah, but I have dibs on Leiweke's shoes.

Ha. They were very good. I like that he shoots a lot of pucks on other team's nets.

I don't know, I just, I assume given the stock that you seem to put in them that it might have come up at some point. I suppose, though, that would mean actually letting your opinions be dictated by the statistics you think are important as opposed to the other way around.

I'd hope you don't think I'm so stupid that I've just got 'irrational opinions' and 'advanced stats.' To those I occasionally try to add cap hits and future flexibility, alternatives in the marketplace, and what I see on the ice.

Good, they'll go terrifically with the rest of what you've bought at Hot Topic.

Gee, I didn't think you noticed! * blushes*  But don't try to sweet-talk me, we just aren't right for each other and I think we both should just accept that and move on.

I'm in agreement that the term is too long and the coin is too much.  But in trying to set that aside, Clarkson is the type of player the Leafs desperately needed and now they have it.

I suspect Tampa Bay fans were telling themselves this when they got Ryan Malone.

Hopefully he is more Gary Roberts than he is Ryan Malone.

I like Clarkson, but that deal is TERRIBLE, too much money for too long. He is a prime candidate for buyout in 2018 unless the cap goes dramatically up.

All talk is the cap is going up even next year, I have no fear of that.  The cap will be climbing steadily as it always has.

No. I think you occasionally look for validation rather than enlightenment in advanced stats though. And you put a little too much stock in them in general.

Where are the inevitable line combos?

Goalies
James Reimer
Jonathan Bernier

Defensemen
Dion Phaneuf  J. Liles
Korbinian Holzer Jake Gardiner

Left Wings Centers Right Wings
James van Riemsdyk  Tyler Bozak Phil Kessel
Joffrey Lupul  David Clarkson
Nikolai Kulemin  Dave Bolland
Frazer Mclaren Jay McClement  Colton Orr

Number aside (i don't pay him, I watch him play) and this guy is all heart! Love it that he is a Leaf. The term is long but welcome to the new NHL. If we didn't do it, someone else would have. We probably got a hometown discount anyways.

Did we trade Kadri, Franson and Gunnarsson for cap space?

Well, Gary Roberts was a .4 gpg, .74 ppg player.

You might as well hope Clarkson turns out to be Mats Sundin.

Soooo... does anyone else wish we went after Clowe instead?

No. That's an ugly deal too.

At least he can put up points.

Clowe has had some real good seasons but I think his style has broken down his body. And the 4 concussions doesn't help. I can't see him returning to his former production levels.

Woah! I didn't know he had that many health issues!
