Decisions, decisions

Busta stop busting me?this is a rhyme as old as the hills.  And Rastafaria say: "I & I" to signify the relationship between man and his maker

Jsut because it's old doesn't make it right. In addition to being inaccurate, it demeans a very real, very serious mental illness.

The other difficult one that spellcheck won't solve is when to say so-and-so and I, vs me and [what's his face]. The trick is to make it just about yourself: would you use Me (object) or I (subject) in that sentence?

"Jim and I are going to the Marlies game!" not "Me and Jim are going to the Marlies game!"; if it was just yourself, you would say, "I am going to the Marlies game!"

"He $@#%^n high sticked me and Dougie!" not "He $@#%^n high sticked Dougie and I"; if it was just yourself, you would say, "He $@#%^n high sticked me!"

Edit: I wrote this before seeing your other thread, Highlander. Sorry!

I'd like to point out your erroneous use of an apostrophe in "ego's".

Bullfrog, can you go over to the Stamkos thread and help set them straight about the difference between complement and compliment? I tried, but I think you're more effective.

I was just talking about the difference between those two words.  I saw a restaurant that offered "complementary dinner" on you birthday.  We joked that after dinner, the waiter would bring a bill (because it was complementary, not complimentary), and tell us how good the dinner looked beside us.

You are right Busta.  Sorry about making light of something that can be extremely hard for all those involved.

Sigh.  This world has become way over-concerned with political correctness.

What about Bob?

Unfortunately the internet has removed the boundaries of the world quicker than society was equipped to deal with.  The internet is not a meeting place where you and all your high school friends are meeting.  This site is open to and accessible by everyone with an internet connection over the entire planet.  This could include people with different views and life situations than you.  In order to keep it civil, it is probably best to acknowledge that there may be people on this site that have to deal with things that we have no comprehension of because we haven't been through it.  It's not so much being politically correct, but rather just trying to be a little more understanding.

It's not about political correctness. It's about not making light of things that are beyond a person's control. It's call compassion and general human decency.

I would have asked "where's my second dinner? The one that complements this one."

I guess no one here is voting for Trump?

I wasn't aware that he'd be running for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Ontario.

I'd vote for Trump before I'd ever consider voting for Kathleen Wynne!!!

Lets get this back on track.

Should the Leafs trade JVR, and if so for what or who?  Should the Leafs pursue a Tyson Barrie out of Colorado?  Or should they be trying to get another first round pick in this years draft?

I for one am of the opinion that we keep JVR . Why would we trade a proven piece of the puzzle that is that good, I think he is part of our team going forward.

I think so. Personally I'd look for another high end pick first, maybe a good D prospect second and, then, look into someone like Vatanen third.

I certainly haven't seen any indication about JVR from management beyond the fact that he was "untouchable" at the deadline.

A season ending injury may have played a part in that, and, we don't have to hear it from management to think about it ourselves.

A high pick or bonafide young dman would be ok with me.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I would really like to see management make a push to get another high end pick this year.  Not because it's a particularly great year or anything, but more because they haven't had one of those years yet where they have had multiple first rounders.  This year they already have 1st and 29th or 30th, so to get another first rounder would really round out that prospect base.

I'd be all over that as well!  JvR is a nice piece and all, but, I think he'll be better as trade bait now, rather than trying to re-sign him as an UFA.
