Eastern Conference Final Bruins (4) vs Pens (1)

Not sure if Boston is playing amazingly or Pittsburgh is sucking.

Oh well they're in the game now, 3-1.

I wasn't sure if I wanted Bruins to lose or have the excuse that we lost to the champs, but the comment about the leafs collapse being part of their championship highlight reel sealed it they need to go down.

But it's 4-1 now...maybe should've stuck with Vokoun.

While Boston is certainly playing well, I would lean more toward Pittsburgh not being as good as everyone touted them to be.

Yeah their D looks awful. Leafs D tightening up for games 2-6.98 is a big reason why we hung around in that series but the pens don't look up to it right now.

They're slow.

I've gotta say, for a Norris finalist and potential winner, Kris Letang is really not a very reliable d-man. He might be a wiz offensively, but still...

Their transition game is pretty awful when Letang isn't on the ice. THe only other defenceman they have that can really move the puck in Martin, but his skating has really gone downhill. The rest of their backend are slow skaters who aren't great with the puck. They're a very top heavy team. Their top 6 forwards are excellent, but, past that, there's not much there. And, well, their goaltending issues have been well documented. A team like Boston, with a solid defensive plan and very good goaltending should be able to shut them down as long as they stick to their game plan.

I'm not usually one to point this stuff out but those colours on Andi...

It must be CBC has some funky wardrobe people, like PJ's weird stuff they don't choose it themselves do they?

I thought speedster Doug Murray would have helped.

Turns out the statistics that had him as the worst Dman in the league weren't far off.

he is horrible in own end

IMO the Bruins get away with loads. Must be the Colin Campbell-watching
factor. Pretty blatant too. Marchand with the pick and hit from behind in
Game 1. Lots of stickwork and interference.

Whoda thunk the Leafs gave these guys the best test...?

John Ferguson will never live this trade down.Watching Rask play solid like this..Is he still with a NHL club?

Vesa Toskala could probably be putting up the same stats with what Pittsburgh has done so far.

That was precisely Crosby's complaint in Game 1.  The officiating, namely.

Boston 6  Pittsburgh 1  Boston leads series 2 games to O.

The score of Game 2 practically summarized it all.  Bruins netminder Tukka Rask had Pittsburgh's top shooters gasping for air, so to speak.  And for the Pittsburgh Penguins, this series is becoming a lesson in futility rather than spunk.

The Bruins are riding high having taken both games on their opponent's territory.
What gives with Boston, suddenly making the opposition resemble a chaotic ragtag ensemble by comparison?  Ask Milan Lucic.  (Brace yourself, Leafs fans).

"Winning that Toronto series created some momentum from that," Bruins forward Milan Lucic said. "We?ve been able to keep riding that momentum.
We need to keep pushing harder."

The series now shifts to Boston.  Over to you, Sidney.  Your Penguins need a miracle.  And fast, too.

Horrible game.. First playoff game I started wathign that I turned off.. Is Iginla dressed? For a guy suppsoed ot be so hungry he is pretty invisible. Not just him.. but he has done zero.. I think his ship has sailed

I don't think it's a lack of desire - Iginla just doesn't have the same ability anymore.

The casual fans who were expecting to see power forward Iginla probably hadn't seen him play, realistically, since the Olympics.

I wonder if (having lost to the Bruins in seven, and nearly beating them) Leaf fans would be happier if the Bruins won the cup or if they didn't. I'm guessing most would hope they don't win it all, but a part of me would be content knowing, at least so far, that the Leafs have been their toughest opponent, and came closer than anyone else to knocking them out.

If the Bruins will it all, at the very least it should confirm the fact that the Leafs are closer than most of us think to being a true cup contender.

I know it's clutching at straws, but it's something positive to take away from their performance this spring. ;)
