8-4 and players are being banished? Pretty fickle bunch.
Not fickle. Ennis/Lindholm/Brown/Hyman/Marleau/Levio/Gauthier/Johnsson have a combined for a whopping 3 even-strength goals and one was into an empty net.

Everyone was talking depth, we could use it now.

No one is saying the team is not without it's faults but to start screaming that players should be banished to the 4th line or the press box with not real solution is pretty damn fickle. Heck Hyman was being praised 3 or 4 games ago. Gauthier's a failure? In what terms?

I get it, the team played like garbage and has had a couple stinkers but it's the end of October. This won't be the only time this year they crap the bed. They just beat a team that's favoured for the cup two games in a row. Even those two games weren't perfect but they won.

I don't think anybody is really trashing Hyman, other than saying it'd be nice if he popped in another goal or two. And Gauther? He's literally never shown the ability to be a NHLer. That has nothing to do with a knee-jerk reaction to some losses.

Gauthier received some praise two weeks ago when he first went in. People around here have been crying for Leivo to be entered into the line up for over a year and IMO he has shown even less ability to be an NHLer.

I have zero issue with Gauthier as a 4th line centre option. He's likely to get pushed to the pressbox or the Marlies if Nylander signs as that would push Lindholm back to the 4th line.

Forwards who have done squat so far this season: Brown, Johnsson (big disappointment there), Leivo, Marleau (sad to say I am beginning to agree that he seems out of gas).

God love Freddie Gauthier but he will never make it.  Time to move on.

I'd respond with a strawman meme but I can't be bothered.  But yes, Gauthier should be banished.

Sorry man, it's a typical response around here and in most sports forums I'd suppose. As soon as the team lays an egg, the world is suddenly coming to an end.

I really don't think there's as much doom and gloom around here as you're saying. And most of the complaints that people do have are about things like our breakout system, which has been a common complaint for like a year now so it's not as if it's something new.

Hey this seems like a pretty timely article:

I enjoy his fiery way with words.

When Toronto gets stifled by a team with a good forecheck, heavy pressure, and the ability to clog the neutral zone (see Calgary, St. Louis, and to some extent Montreal) they look less like a legit contender and more like the soldiers in every X-Men movie who think they can win by pointing metal guns at Magneto. You gotta change tactics sooner or later, guys.

And X-Men references.

I like the quote:

I?m tired of the tail-chasing speculation published by Dreger and Kypreos based on something ?a senior NHL executive? (that is definitely Dave Nonis) told them
