Game 13: Flyers @ Leafs - 7:00pm, SNet-O, RDS2

And the crowd is lively because the team is playing with energy.  I'm really starting to like Carlyle.

The Leafs get outshot 22-10 in the 2nd period and outscore Philly 3-0

Scrivens made 20 saves in relief of Reimer.  Aside from 1-2 of them though I think the Leafs did a pretty solid job defensively.  It was more a byproduct of bad perimeter shots and 7 minutes of power-play.

Since leaving the game, Bryz has been having an on-going conversation thru the glass with an elderly gentleman who is sitting beside him

He was apparently smiling when skating off the ice after getting pulled. Weird guy.

Just got in from work. 1) Some of the highlights look ridiculous, where was this team last year?! 2) What happened to Reimer?! Seriously ?!!? Ughhh...

You don't think they just go with a cheap veteran? Bernier causes a logjam next season or whenever Reimer returns. Not that I would really mind dumping Scrivens in that case.

I think Bernier makes more sense than a vet if it's really serious. It potentially gives them an option longer term, just in case it's a much more significant injury than just this season, he's an asset going forward, he's affordable in terms of the cap, etc - and, if he pans out and Reimer gets healthy, it gives the Leafs either a very good platoon or an excellent trade chip.

Those 20 saves lift Scrivens Save% to .912, while Reimers 12 saves kept his at .929

When did we last have a starter and backup over .900?

Yeah, a page or two ago, I posted his name. I didn't go as far as to say "expect" though.... You feel that strongly?

Of the known to be available options, in terms of Reimer having a serious injury, yeah, I'd go with expect. It would almost be like a perfect storm and he's as close to a perfect fit as there is.

Frattin + (I forget what the + was) was the rumoured deal. Having seen more of Frattin, Geez... I don't know.

Oh, it won't be for that deal. There's no way. But, I do think Nonis will find a way to get it done.

I know you can probably cook any goalies stats like this, but Scrivens was .926 in the 3 games outside the bad one

Not a large sample size though, as we are seeing with the .912 number it is still sensitive to a single performance

Last year?

Yeah I just looked, don't recall them being as decent as that  ;D

And also the prior year with JS Giguere

Prior to that though it was 96-97 with Potvin and Cousineau that we finished a season with the starter and main back up both above .900  :o

How about Brent Johnson as a temporary backup? Free agent, not playing overseas, posted decent numbers two seasons ago, veteran experience. Him and Roloson are the only two off the top of my head that make any sense to me.

I wouldn't move anything significant for a replacement goalie.  Reimer is very close to showing he's worth a long-term investment.  Bring up Rynnas.

I wouldn't either, unless it's really serious. That being said, I wouldn't bring up Rynnas either. Better to sign a vet UFA or find a cheap one via trade.
