Game 16: Leafs @ Panthers - 7:30Pm, SNET-O, FS-F

so that's easy...we just don't give up any goals ..i don't know why we haven't just tried this in the past...

anyway ...important win tonight ..this week sucks with the amount of games ..kadri just seems to keep finding ways to be effective.  really can't wait to have frattin back.

I really like MacArthur when he is on his game. Hopefully he is back next season as he makes for some excellent secondary scoring.

I like aspects of his game but what I don't like is his apparent lack of hockey IQ sometimes.  That is the main reason I would like to see him and Komisarek moved.  Their hockey IQ.

As a scorer, ahead of MacArthur I like Kessel, Lupul, JVR, Kadri, Frattin and Bozak.  I put him with Grabovski and Kulemin in the scoring department.  In fairness, MacArthur is outscoring Orr...but he is an expensive 3rd line option for me which isn't good when the Leafs have big Ryan Hamilton with the Marlies.

Mac looked good with Kadri tonite though.  I suspect he might be doing a little mentoring as well.

If you want to know why this site is terrific - I was up in Gravenhurst finishing the band's record today, with no tv and no internet outside of my cell phone data.  I got quicker updates from this board about scores than I did from any of the Maple Leaf, TSN or THN apps...

..so kudos to all you guys who post in these GDT - there are a lot of people who derive a lot from it!

Who are these idiot refs? Komarov is going to get a reputation and he hasn't done anything. It's going to dramatically reduce his effectiveness.

The best part about it is that the refs didn't give him a penalty for the hit initially.  So it was entirely based on the fact that he got crosschecked in the back twice by the Florida Panther.  So 2-minutes for hitting a guy effectively enough to make him draw a penalty.

His 2nd penalty was for diving also, what a joke.

I love how Komarov delivered the hit, then sacrificed himself by positioning himself for a retaliation penalty.  It's garbage to call him on that play.  He suckered another player into a penalty, that should be the end of it.  I really hope he doesn't get a reputation for diving he doesn't deserve.

Not since the 194O-41 season has a Leaf team sported it's best
road record to date(7-2-0).

Simply fantastic!

GO LEAFS GO!

I thought Mirtle calling Komarov a rat tonight was a little off, I think he's very reasonable, hits and doesn't do much after the whistle.

I agree, just finishes every check and doesn't partake in any of the dirty stuff before or after the whistle.

Looked like he embellished both incidents. I agree with the calls, I hate divers or embellishments.

Was at the game last night. Leafs Nation was representing!

The public address announcer had a unique pronunciation of Kadri's name :

NaZEEEM KadREE

Made him sound like more of a potential terrorist.

The worst post-lockout pace for a playoff spot was 94 points.  That is a 1.146 PT% pace.  That 94 points works out to 55 points in the abbreviated 48 game season.

The Leafs currently sit at 1.25 PPG.    To hit 55 points the Leafs would need to finish the year on a 1.09 PT% pace.  15-15-5 would be enough to make the playoffs at this point (most likely).

I've been doing the math as well but then I have to remind myself what team we cheer for. If any team could find a way to f*** this up, it would be the Leafs

Only when I see that *asterisk that denotes "clinched playoff spot" will I believe they made it. And even then, I will question it.

It looks more and more likely but I am pessimistic-ally optimistic.

I didn't realize that there are ways of pronouncing a Muslim name that could make it sound threatening.
