Game 31: Toronto Maple Leafs @ Buffalo Sabres L5-4

Dupuis is pretty much crap in general...yes he's okay killing the penalty but is that enough to play only shorthanded the whole game. Even strength he's useless.

3 even-strength goals against so far this season. Is he a great 4th liner/penalty killer? Absolutely not. Is he a horrible 4th liner/penalty killer? Absolutely not. Is he the reason for the teams failures this season? See above.

Dupuis is an easy scapegoat, that much is clear.

Someone tell me why Dupuis gets to play in the NHL, he can't score and he is a cornerstone to the worst PK in western civilization.

He doesn't score, we get it. But statistically speaking Dupuis is the best of the bunch of our penalty killers. Not saying much obviously though.

Its saying nothing, he is big part of the ineptitude out there.  Why take one of your worst players and put him on the ice when the team has a disadvantage, it isn't work, change it.
You know I mentioned this during November and got chewed out since at the time they were doing decent on the pk. Dupuis doesn't deserve a roster spot. We have the worst pk in the league now and he plays the most on the pk. Try something different for crying out loud. If our pk was better then keep him around but it sucks, it totally blows, it's fn brutal!

Steckel has most SH TOI among forwards.  Dupuis is 2nd.

Out of all the forward PKers who have had any significant time, teams are scoring less goals/60 mins on the PK with Dupuis on the ice than with any other forward on.
Seriously? Do you not get what I'm saying? I hope you feel better about yourself now for pointing that out.

Yes, you are saying that Dupuis sucks and shouldn't be on the PK, and I am trying to use stats to show you that Dupuis has not sucked on the PK.

Do you know how that compares with other PK ice time leaders in the NHL?

So they have changed their whole 'defensive'scheme short-handed, they have changed the personel, they changed all the special teams coaches so where does the problem stem from?

Phillipe Dupuis, and the ghost of Rickard Wallin.

Now the question becomes which post-game Nik-invented drink do I go with: the Toronto Island Iced Tea or the Yuri Gagarin.

You cant defend Dupuis. 0 pts and his PKing prowess leads this team to 61% in last 8 games (61%!)

On another i am sick of how garbage Frattin is. He has no finish. Bring up Kadri.

Not a scape goat at all but I'd rather see Coburne getting the icetime. Ziggomanis is a good penalty killer as well. Actually they did score a goal at all while he was on the PK, what make Dupuis any better?

Not to throw too confusing a metaphor into the mix but changing your clothes only helps the smell if you've got fresh laundry.

Not sure how to parse the stats well...but just on a quick look, his GA/60 PK time is comparable to these players who have played a similar amount of PK time/game:

Andrej Meszaros, Anze Kopitar, Eric Brewer, Andrew MacDonald, Erik Condra, Brent Seabrook, Victor Hedman.

Oh and sit Kulemin and Steckel is useless now that he cant win face offs. The GM needs to wake up.

So...we should get rid of the whole team? I'm pretty sure that'll be even worse.

No, you see because we can defend Dupuis. The Leafs PK is fine when Dupuis is on the ice. It isn't when he is not.

Not the whole team. But you cant just go with the status quo. This team will be out of the play off spot by weekend's end. Brian Burke said he is done making major changes so something has to give.

Nevermind the fact that it's insane that you can hang the Leafs' issues on a fourth liner! (fourth!)

I think it's silly to think Burke would be satisfied with a group that would be out of the playoffs in January. Nevermind the fact that his job is probably on the line.
