Game 41: Detroit Red Wings vs Toronto Maple Leafs W4-3

Sigh, yeah, the Leafs are missing Orr's goal in 5 games along with his 20 points in 380 games.  Shake my head.

Watching that "brawl" where Lucic ended up getting thrown out of the game for half-leaving the bench and being an extra man in.  How did Vancouver not get reamed for having 3 additional guys jump in throwing punches at Thornton at him on the ice AND three guys throwing punches at him from the bench?  All that after Burrows sticks his stick up at Thornton's head/neck after an unnecessary love tap from Thornton.

See, this is just why I don't understand why Cherry has any defenders left. I don't care where you come down on the issue of fighting. I don't care what you think about it's place in the game. To use a huge chunk of his time lamenting the fact that the Leafs sent Orr down because of how a team needs a fighter to be successful(not true) when Rosehill is still on the team doesn't even betray a casual familiarity with the actual subject matter.

Logic is no part of the discussion when Don is involved.

Maybe people just find him entertaining? It's like how Hollywood keeps making terrible movies and people keep going to see them.

Gus is looking sharp - they really need to do a better job of clearing the front of the net though.

Detroit is pretty relentless. I don't know what to do about it but they need to clear the zone more quickly otherwise the next 2 periods aren't going to be quite so nice.

Yes, Detroit is going to keep playing Red Wings hockey whatever the score is, and eventually they'll probably start showing up on the scoreboard.

Great 1st period for the Leafs, but I think the rest of this game will be a big test for them.

Maybe, but that speaks to what's becoming a larger problem with Coach's Corner. If Ron MacLean isn't there to provide some measure of fact checking to the senility on display what's the point? Why not just have it be five minutes of Don Cherry yelling at clouds?

I think that's pretty much the storyboard, actually.

He's there to make bad puns.

I imagine Burke will appreciate it, though I suspect his motives were a little different.
