Game 61 - Sharks @ Leafs- Feb 23rd, 2012 - 7:00 PM EST - TSN, AM640

Wow. Try to fall on the puck behind your net and waste a good ten seconds.

And that will do it.

See you later, playoffs. :(

They wasted an entire period trying to get back in this game. Lost to a better team. Would be a lot easier to swallow it wasn't their 3rd straight and 7 of 8...

If they could have brought the 3rd period effort for the whole game, they would have won tonight.

I would hope that the players would have more pride in themselves, but if the coach can't get it out of them.......well, then give him another extension!

This is what happens when you don't skate for two periods, I guess.

Deflating loss against a slumping team. I feel negative about the Leafs chances after this game.

Yep.  But not to show up for the 1st 2 periods?  Who, I wonder, will step and take responsibility for that?  Or maybe they should just have another "lighthearted practice" tomorrow.

So we need about 26 points in the remaining 21 games to make the playoffs. 91 points minimum? That's makes worthless Ron's not so magic number 8

I don't know, man. At this point, if these guys can't get themselves motivated enough to get themselves going in such an important game, I don't know if there's a coach in the world that could do it. This problem runs deeper than coaching or the captain.

Unreal effort by Bozak there in the faceoff circle during the final few minutes, too bad Phaneuf decided to be anti-clutch with that one-timer attempt...

No really weak goals against tonight anyway, small steps!

Playoff bound????

The east is still a joke. Despite all these losses the Leafs are a 2-3 game win streak from being in a good playoff spot again. Saturday's game against the Caps should be a win, they're worse than us right now and are playing back to back.

The Leafs are done.  If Burke has any brains, he'll be a big time seller before this deadline is over.  Many of these guys have shown what they're made off.

Were the Sens done when they lost 7 in a row recently?  It can turn around.

No doubt.  But there is a total lack of leadership, do you not agree?  Phaneuf has made one captain-worthy play in recent weeks, the backcheck in EDM.  Otherwise, he's sucked.

And while Wilson has cleaned up the special teams (although some of the PK success has come from refs putting away the whistles since the new year) I defy anyone to defend his overall coaching job.

We would have been better off had Eakins been promoted back in November.

Wilson aside I think it's been good for Eakins to get a year of real success under his belt.

If they miss the playoffs I think it'll be Carlyle, unless he gets picked up before that ( unlikely ).
