Look it, if you're not going to make the Game Day Thread with some effort, with cool graphics and logos, and lineups, and current injuries, and the teams' top scorers, and who's got the hottest wife, and who the healthy scratches are, then don't do it.

We have a strong tradition around here of extensively informational Game Day Threads, and I think you're mocking our TMLfans.ca culture.

I know I speak for everyone, so you're all welcome.

EDIT:  And just so we're clear, not a chance that I'm putting the time in to do all that.

Not this again.

I'm glad to see Hamilton get a shot, but with all the injuries at forward I'm really surprised we haven't seen Connolly this year?

Connolly would only come back up if the Leafs need a centre. So far, all the injuries have been to wingers.

I thought that at first too, but I think he could be pretty effective playing wing, and would probably come in with a different attitude after being demoted. He's got 3 goals in 3 games with the Marlies so far. He hasn't been sulking, and is probably dying for another shot to prove himself.

Edit: Or you put him at centre on the top line and move Bozak to wing. That top line hasn't been exactly lighting it up.

I thought I recall Connolly playing on the wing in past ... I thought he was one of those versatile guys.  Wouldn't he be an improvement over Komarov on the 3rd line -- perhaps shifting Koma down to the 4th?

He's definitely an upgrade from Komarov.

I like Komarov on that line.  All 3 of them, though to a lesser extent Frattin, will bang, work corners and retrieve pucks.

OP is fail!  OP's avatar is fail!  OP has bad karma!

Now that that is out of the way, I'm cautiously optimistic about tonight's game.  Overall I am happy with the Leafs thus far.  I expected them to have a really bad year this season but they are doing alright.  They need Gardiner and Lupul in the lineup but so far other people like Frattin have stepped up their game and are filling in nicely.  Hopefully they can contain Ovechkin.

Washington is 1-4 to start the season.  I wouldn't have expected that.  Perhaps this will be an easy win for the Leafs.

I could not disagree more.

I'm a huge Komarov fan.

Don't get me wrong. I like Komarov's game, and how he goes to the dirty areas, but from a skill set view point, Connolly is the better player. I think he is being grossly undervalued by people right now.

I am hoping its hard lessons for coasting during all them games. I see him back up at some point.

Tonight's game will be titled: The triumphant return of Joseph Q. Crabb.

Am I reading this correctly? Top line duty?

"All-world Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin has just two points through six games, while ex-Leafs forward Joey Crabb makes his return to the Air Canada Centre playing alongside Ovechkin on Washington's top forward line."

I think he's got better offensive skills. But this line up is in desperate need of some grit (see the Rangers game) and guys who go to the net (Lupul was a loss there). Connolly doesn't bring that. Komarov does bring some grit.

It's likely we'll see one of Bozak, Grabovski or Kadri go down with injury. When we do, I expect we'll see Connolly get another chance to prove what he wasn't able to prove in training camp - that he belongs here - if he keeps up his ppg pace in the AHL.

Komarov kind of reminds me of where Frattin was last season. He's getting acquainted with this league. I think he'll figure it out and start contributing more offensively before the season is out.

Oates has been doing some interesting things with his lines in the past week or two. Their three best forwards, Ovechkin, Backstrom, and Riberio have all been on separate lines. Ovechkin has been playing with Crabb and Jay Beagle recently. Oates says that he likes the balance it gives him.

Scored some below face value seats for the game today. Sorry, nutman, I will not be screaming my head off all game.
