So a buddy of mine asked me:

"Are you a Leafs fan?"

and I say

"Yes"

and he says

"Which means as a Leafs fan and for the interest of the Leafs you will be cheering for the habs to beat winnipeg"

to which I reply

"No, I can never cheer for the Habs"

Leafs fan or not?  Do I want Winnipeg to lose because the Leafs are currently tied in points with them or do I hate the Habs so much that there's no way I can want them to win a game.

The way I see it, if this was game 82 and the Habs beating the Jets would help the Leafs get in, then ok, I'd be ok with the Habs winning.  Apart from that, I feel the Leafs have plenty of time to get in even if Winnipeg wins tonight.

Regardless of how much I hate the Habs, we want them to win in regulation tonight. As Greg Millen would say... 'No doubt about it' - lol

Like I give 2 flying hoots if the Habs win.  The Habs are NOT going to go winless the rest of the year.  They are going to win games.  Why not have them beat teams that are beneficial to the Leafs?

I seriously do not understand the weird vibe some fans have.  It's as though they aren't a fan of their own team, they just hate other teams more.

GO HABS GO.... destroy those Peggers!

Gus starts versus Jets, Leafs will ride whichever goalie is winning from here on out according to Wilson.

I'll just say that judging a goalie based on whether he wins or loses a game instead of how he plays is stupid.  A goalie's winning percentage is one of the least useful statistic tracked by the NHL for understanding the quality of play or utility of an individual player.

If Reimer is named to the All-Star game as a fan voted starter, does he reject the invite?

I think he should, either of our goalies being near an All-Star game is a joke.

At last check, Thomas was leading the voting and starting to pull away.

That's a positive, but also leads me to believe they're looking for a goalie. You don't have a bona fide #1 if you just say "play the last guy that won".  If Gustavsson plays well but loses against Winnipeg does he then go back to Reimer?

Who here would trade away Reimer for a package including Hiller? What about Reimer and Grabovski for Hiller and Ryan. I'm looking at it as a way for Anaheim to shed some salary.

I don't think Anaheim goes for that but, regardless, the Leafs don't have the cap space to add 4.7 million in salary by my math.

Red is this proposal serious or in sarcasm?

Good night for the Leafs - Jets lose, Devils lose. Now a regulation win over the Jets and a regulation loss by the Sens to Tampa and we can jump all the way back up to sixth by tomorrow night.

The scarry part is the high goals against, more often then not the team that gets blowen out will have  bounce back game. guess who the jets play next. :-\

guess they're saving their bounce back game

The 40 games in 10 game stretches so far.

First set - excellent
7-2-1

Second set
4-5-1

Third set
5-4-1

Fourth set
4-4-2

Next 10
Detroit
Buffalo
@Buffalo
NY Rangers
Ottawa
Minnesota
Montreal
NY Islanders
@NY Islanders
@ Pittsburgh

7 of the next 10 are at home and we need to beat the hell out of the Islanders in those 2 games as well as beat the Habs & Sens and take at least 1 from Buffalo.  Anything short of 5-6 wins in the next 10 is going to be a huge disappointment.

Not just a huge disappointment -- it could spell the effective end of playoff hopes.

We've been .500 the last 30 games -- not good enough.

Interesting little tidbit:  only 4 players on the Leafs roster have played the whole season so far.  With Dion possibly injured, that might drop to 3.

*knock on wood*

Kessel, Lupul and Kulemin are the other 3 I'm assuming?

Yuppers.

Decent chance to start the next 10 game set with a win. Detroit is not an impressive road team so far this year (10-11-0.)

And like that, we were jinxed.
