I'm keeping 89 and ditching 11 and that contract....just brutal.
I would be ok with that but I doubt they go that route. We'll know soon enough.

Doubt it too. Team will look different Saturday. leafs need to lose some players. They actually have too many so something has to give. This game could be a blessing to push Tre into doing something. OEL and Rielly can't be a pairing. Domi can't be 3C.

Very little of that was PP time, mop up duty mostly. I'm not sure what more you'd expect out of a 3rd line than what those 3 have provided given the ice time.

Exactly, I don't get the complaints. Even when they play well they don't get rewarded with more ice time. We are a two-line team both with Keefe and now Berube. Spread the core out, try Kampf/Jankrok at 3 C, and roll the lines. It feels like the team never evolves by design. It's quite ridiculous nothing different has ever been attempted. We do have better D and G this year but the forward management has been the same forever. We always play better when some of the core 4 are hurt because we have to rely on the depth and they usually show up when given an opportunity to contribute.

Yes, I'm sure they'll do well when we face Chicago and Pittsburgh in the playoffs. Against a real contender like Vegas they will get eaten alive. They are too weak defensively (Robertson and Domi) to be together.
Though I do agree with the premise that they haven't been put in the best position to succeed (especially Robertson). Also am disappointed that as you note, we remain a 2 line team. The TOI distribution in the San Jose game was mind boggling.

That's why I'm not a fan of the rumors of 7 million for 3 years. He's slowing down and it's costing him and wonder how's he going to look in another 2 years. I know not much out there but 7 million could be used on a younger faster player. He's not producing much 5 on 5 either.
The issue is, for me anyway, that domi is a black hole defensively. You could also look at it that domi has 1 goal in his last 30 games, not just his last 10.
Anyway whatever, I never liked him, I never wanted him with the leafs and if they find a new home for him, great.

Where did he say expecting? He said the team as a whole were maybe hoping for an easy game and by the way the team played, he's right. He said nothing wrong imo. Maybe he should have said, who cares, it's just a game.
