Can you guys help me understand the thinking of signing Mrazek and not offering a contract to Freddie at the end of last year. Was it his bad year or what? I missed the entire last year so I'm honestly asking. The money between the two is like less than a million per. Was it going all in on Campbell and going and also for a resign?

Go Leafs Go!
He was brutal all year, was injured and continued to be brutal.

That - in addition to not enough cap room.

Aren't the contracts similar? 3x3.8million for Mrazek and 4x4.2million for Anderson? I could understand if Anderson's contract was well over 5-million.

Mrazek makes 3.8, Freddie makes 4.5...that's Spezza minus 50k. We also don't know what the ask or offer was for him. Freddie may have wanted to leave..

Good on Simmonds....that's a bad hut accidental or not.

That?s the kind of hit that should be a penalty.  It was pure knee on knee.  Not suspensionable but that should be penalized

The NHL doesn?t protect players at all

How was that not a knee on knee?

I can totally see how you are confused.  Sometimes it's not always obvious.  In this case it wasn't a knee on knee because the player who was the victim was wearing blue, and the potential offender in this case was not.

I dunno, I'm not really in favor of somebody going out to fight if something wasn't blatantly intentional.  I agree it should have been a penalty on Smith no matter what.

Nothing a couple of knuckles didn't fix. Good for Simmonds.

I?m always amused at how much hooking and holding teams they have defensive reputations get away with .  We aren?t back in the 90s but reputation should let you commit infractions.

Is closing your hand on the puck not a penalty in the defensive zone.  Carolina caught the dump.  Turned around and then dropped the puck
