Idiocracy

In 2016 I used to think all Trump supporters were either bad people or just dumb. Anyone still supporting this is both.

At this point, yeah, they're either so brain-washed by Faux News, OANN, Breitbart, etc., or they're crazy conspiracy nuts that it's to not agree with your sentiments. In 2016, I could have forgiven some of them for thinking he'd soften his stance once elected - as most political figures do. Now, after more than 3 years in office? This is who he is, and supporting him now is supporting bigotry, ignorance, hatred, and division.
And also just supporting straight up bullshit, and giving in to Orwellian double speak and brainwashing. Up is down, down is up, the sky is green racism is equality, police brutality is freedom from intruders, slavery is freedom etc.

As an aside, I have an uncle from Midwest USA. His brother voted for George W. and loved him while he was pres. He also voted for Trump. Once Trump voiced his distaste for GW, the brother said George W.  was a bad president and won't admit that he liked him or thought he was a good president at the time. He is a normal Midwestern guy. Just imagine that that's a jumping point for everything else, and if he's normal then brainwashing has become so common in the US that people don't think twice about explaining everything away with more and more self delusion. They truly are thought slaves.

Ah, the power of defunding and skewing the public education system to ensure a certain worldview stays in control.

Most people (who aren't heavy internet users) are probably only catching the marches on their news outlet of choice, who are trying very hard to both-sides this. This thread, that I was catching piecemeal previously but now consolidated, is horrifying, heartbreaking, and I (not directly affected or involved) am livid.

Anyone who insists on All/Blue Lives Mattering/But the Looting these issues is siding with the bad guys.

This thread tracking instances of police brutality/racism is up to the mid 400s now

Is there any doubt that the GoPro marketing people aren't workshopping how to delicately market to the public a fun and exciting new line of police brutality cams?

The argument that I find frustrating is the "I don't support his racist stuff, I just agree with his fiscal policies".    Supporting his/Republican tax cuts doesn't prohibit you from criticizing his incompetent behaviour.  You are capable of doing both.  Standing silent allows legitimacy to his behaviour.

Yeah. People who use that argument feel like they're trying to save face, because they know that not speaking out against that stuff is wrong - but also because they don't disagree with it strongly enough to speak out. A lot of people dislike that Trump is saying the quiet part loud, but they don't necessarily disagree with him.

I know Mittens (Mitt) Romney is basically angling himself to get another run at the Presidency right now if the Democrats turn the country blue in November but I think it would help if we backed guys like Mitt who actually speak out a bit about his behaviour.  Is it too little, too late, probably.  It's still better than not doing it at all.  Good parenting is all about positive reinforcement.  We need to be giving out out more praise for doing/saying the right stuff and more shunning of the idiots.

Calling Mitch McConnell a racist doesn't hurt him.  If he isn't aware of the fact that he is racist at this point he's oblivious and I just don't think that is the case.  He embraces it.  He thrives on it.  Ignore him.  Don't focus attention on trying to rile him up.  It doesn't work.  Focus on talking more about Charles Booker and Amy McGrath.

Lmao white cops getting a taste of their own behaviour for less than a week and they?re already crying

When the protesting started and there was looting, Mike Render or Killer Mike of Run the Jewels, was lauded by many for giving an impassioned speech urging people to not commit violence and ruin neighbourhoods but instead to make their voices heard at the ballot box. To "beat them up with votes".

Then, yesterday, the people of Georgia get a chance to vote and this happens:

https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/1270433009033007106

Shockingly, the Republican Secretary of State oversaw a system that saw huge problems with voting machines and delays in black neighbourhoods but no problems whatosever in more affluent white neighbourhoods.

This stuff isn't a joke. Tensions are high. Denying people their democratic voice and then governing like you have their consent will lead to violence. That's not my "opinion" or what I "advocate" that's just what happens. That's why people threw tea in boston harbour and murdered French kings. That Republicans still haven't learned their lesson on this front is what tells me this is only the beginning of difficulties.

It took LaTosha Brown three hours to vote at her polling site in Atlanta. Brown, co-founder of Black Voters Matter, said it took her nephew six hours to vote on Friday during early voting hours.

Brown said she drove to a predominantly white polling place in the suburbs of Atlanta after leaving her voting site Monday and was near tears as she saw no line, and people easily walking in and out. ?I come over to this side of town, and white folks are strolling in,? said Brown. ?On my side of town, we brought stadium chairs.?

As is typical, Republicans consistently run their mouths about things like the Democrats supporting policies that will lead to electoral fraud, etc., while they are actively taking actions that - while technically legal - are tantamount to actual electoral fraud.

I hope they get decimated in November. They won't, but I still hope.

"You get this meme of, 'Blacks are shot two times, two and a half times more,' and everybody just goes, 'Oh, yeah,'" Yates said on the podcast. "They're not making sense here. You have to come into contact with law enforcement for that to occur.?

"If a certain group is committing more crimes, more violent crimes, and law enforcement's having to come into more contact with them, that number is going to be higher,? he continued.

The most highly policed segment of the population comes into contact with law enforcement more frequently than others? Shocking.

The second part, of course, is racist claptrap. African Americans get arrested more frequently because of the systemic racism, which provides the perception that they commit more crimes.
