Islanders @ Leafs - Dec. 29th, 7:00pm - TSN4, Fan 590

I wonder if Bernier would like to be an astronaut?  He could go on space walks and never get hit by space junk or asteroids!  8)

Have teams ever moved a goalie into playing another position? Maybe Bernier would work as a forward? 8)

I think he would make a pretty good center. A #1 center perhaps?

He'd have to play a forward position and never play on the penalty kill.  It's obvious he can't BLOCK shots!

Really? Always?

When it happens within that short a time frame of the puck being put on net, yeah. It impacts balance and vision, and, therefore, their ability to react.

Have you ever played hockey goalie in any capacity?  Because I have, and I've been hit many times all over the body including my head, and there are many times that it didn't impact me because I was out of position or it deflected/rebounded in a way I couldn't respond to.

This deflected on a way he couldn't respond to, hit to the head or not.  And the refs seem to agree.

Man, I dont know what they're going to do with Bernier.

Do you re-sign Reimer?

That depends on the team's intentions for next season. If they figure it's going to be another development season - and that's likely - they probably keep Bernier, because they really don't have anything to lose by giving him a lot of rope. I also think you have to keep the option of trading Reimer open - especially with his improved play. If a team loses their starter or doesn't have enough confidence in them, Reimer could bring back a decent return at the deadline.

Not much they can do but let him play out his contact or waive him.

If there's a market for Reimer, I'd trade him.  Otherwise, I'm not sure he'd want to re-sign here...

I think you probably do, and look for lower-end free agents with a bit of upside in the offseason.

Nice game for the tank tonight, though. Trade bait scoring goals to pad their stats, while not moving up in the standings.

Downside -result won't help in move/prep Bernier for a waiver claim....
