James van Riemsdyk

He reminds me of a poem I can't remember, and a song that may never have existed, and a place I'm not sure I've ever been to.

While JvR can look flat-out amazing some games, there are other games he is practically invisible I genuinely forget he is in the lineup until his #21 is caught a glimpse of.

Kinda like last night.

That's the infuriating thing about him, and I imagine part of the reason the Flyers were willing to move him. He'll just disappear for a few games, but, then he'll come back and be the star for a few games. He needs more of the latter and less of the former.

Hopefully that consistency comes with age, as it does with most power forwards.

It bothers me. Like you mentioned, some games it's hard to tell if he is even in the lineup.

This trade is looking really good for the Leafs so far. Big asset up front, and the team is loaded with D-Men. I think Fraser is better shutdown than Schenn. And, Kostka is better defensively as well.

I really like JVR, but I'm starting to get the sense that Kessel is the spark plug that ignites Lupul, and so far this year, JVR. Once Phil gets that offense going, guys like JVR and Lupul, who are good finishers, really become the beneficiaries of his great plays. It should be interesting to see if either Lupul or JVR can keep it up while playing on a different line than Kessel, once Lupul returns.

Well, in theory, if they play with Kadri, then they should keep on getting their chances.
