Joffrey Lupul

I'm not hearing his complaining. He said he didn't really get into the game early on. Well, for one thing, he took a stupid penalty on his first shift so there's two minutes right there.

He then said the Caps were better at everything, which was true, and basically was saying the whole team was off himself included, and that he wasn't going to attribute any of his poor play to his concussion.
It was subtle but he was definitely combative with the media and Carlyle IMO.

Ok. I disagree.

Here is a link to the interview after the game;

Seemed a little pissed they lost the game.

Well it's 2 against 1 so far. :)

What do you say about Lupul basically calling Carlyle a liar in front of the media saying that he was not cleared to play on Monday?

I think that Lupul didn't play on Monday which is a strong indication that he wasn't cleared to play on Monday.

He said he wasn't cleared to play Monday. (and he didn't play Monday) He said they (The Caps) played a better game, did everything better than the Leafs did. (and they did) He wasn't 'into' his game (and he clearly wasn't)

I don't see that he's calling Carlyle a liar.

I think the problem is Carlyle gave everyone the impression Lupul was cleared on Monday.  He said : "Lupul will be a decision we'll make this afternoon.  He will be available to our hockey club.  He was cleared for contact....the decision will be whether he feels he's 110%, if he's only 100 he won't play."

That statement sounds like he's cleared to play which obviously wasn't the case on Monday since Lupul said so.

The decision whether he was going to play or not was likely based on the tests he mentioned, which he likely didn't pass and thus was not cleared to play.

I liked what I saw from the interview.  Im sure that he was pissed at the outcome.  He's known RC a long time and would not get into a media match with him. The problem is Leafs fans have waited a long time to have a player pissed at losses.  Even when Sundin lost he was still very profession/humble.  Not since Gilmour have the fans seen some real fire out of the players, they all feel accountable which is a true team.  This group has something.  This team has caracter.  They expect to win. They are young learning and competing for spots. They might even steal a round. I'm really loving it. With Lupul only playing 11 games. Wow

The media made it about Carlyle..I see no real issue in how he answered the idiotic questions the media asked. It's like they attempt to make controversy.

I don't think there's any story here about Lupul's comments other than he was upset with the loss.  I don't see any conflict with Carlyle.

The only thing that strikes me as strange is Carlyle telling the media it was up to how Lupul felt on Monday (the "110%" comment).  They already said he had a concussion, why not just say he had to pass a specific test before being cleared instead of making up some bogus thing about how Lupul felt.  Is Carlyle so old-school that he can't give out the real story when asked a question?  Just say he wasn't cleared to play and might be cleared if he passed a test, end of story.

I wonder what is wrong with Lupul? He must be hurt because he has had so many giveaways and doesn't seem to have jump anymore.

He definitely hasn't been the same since that hit (head).  I hope he has a big game tonight.

I think James Mirtle made reference to a his speculation that a number of Leafs were nursing injuries, and I believe Lupul was one he singled out.

I honestly don't think he's looked that bad in all honesty. Not amazing, but not bad.

3 goals so far. Nothing wrong with that.
